    Job Description

    Job Summary

    Reporting to the Museum Field Trip Program Manager, the Field Trip Coordinator is responsible for coordination, delivery and creation of educational programs designed for groups of PreK-12th grade students who visit the museum. This includes administrative coordination to ensure smooth delivery and upkeep of Field Trips and virtual programs, and developing program curricula and content. This position also presents facilitated programs to groups and mentors and trains hourly staff and volunteers.

    Basic Functions:

    + Oversee registration, scheduling and booking for Field Trip and virtual programs in collaboration with the Museum Field Trip Program Manager.

    + Correspond directly with Burke Education clients regarding program content, scheduling, costs and cost assistance; funnel client and internal Burke communications to appropriate Education staff or Burke department when necessary; uphold Burke Education’s priority of providing excellent and timely customer service to all clients.

    + Coordinate program preparation and logistics to ensure successful program delivery in collaboration with the Museum Field Trip Program Manager including: ensuring adequate staff scheduling, pre-visit preparation and support for clients, maintenance of teaching collections and program materials, and monitoring program expenses to meet financial goals.

    + Facilitate and support onsite and virtual educational experiences for groups of PreK-12th grade students, as well as for youth and family audiences, including field trips, family programs and events, and summer and break camps; set up, break down and restock materials before and after program facilitation; greet and orient groups to the museum upon arrival.

    + Work with the Museum Field Trip Program Manager, Youth and Family Programs Manager and other Education staff to develop activities and hands-on materials for educational programs; maintain, review and update curriculum, program support materials and program evaluations.

    + Train Museum Educators as-needed on program content, facilitation, and logistics.

    + Process registration and affiliated administration for youth and family programs including summer and break camps in collaboration with the Youth and Family Programs Manager.

    + Train staff as-needed on program booking and registration processes; update and maintain manuals related to these business processes.

    + Review marketing materials and website content to support successful promotion of programs and improve client experience.

    Other Responsibilities:

    + Observe education programs offered by the Burke to gain a thorough understanding of the work of Burke Education and to develop/grow your teaching practice.

    + Other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Requirements

    + Bachelor’s degree in history, anthropology, archaeology, museum studies, fine arts, education or closely related field

    + Two years’ experience as a museum curator or equivalent.

     

    _Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration._

    Desired Qualifications

    + High degree of flexibility, initiative, and ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

    + Excellent communication skills, including public speaking, and the ability to work with diverse audiences and multiple learning styles.

    + Work and life experience in any field related to the job functions are valued equally to college coursework.

    + Experience working with youth (PreK-12th grade) in a formal or informal education setting.

    + Understanding of equity, inclusion, and decolonization in museums, and experience fostering inclusive practice.

    + Experience with Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Adobe InDesign/Illustrator/Photoshop

    + Experience working with the public in customer service capacity.

    + First Aid/CPR Certification

    Conditions of Employment:

    + Able to work a flexible schedule that occasionally involves work on weekends, evenings and holidays.

    + Able to work in an environment visible to the public with visual and audible distractions.

    + Must be able to lift and move up to 30 pounds alone and up to 60 pounds with assistance.

    + Wear required credentials at all times and work attire/uniforms and name tags as required by position.

    Pay Range Minimum:

    $44,256.00 annual

    Pay Range Maximum:

    $56,124.00 annual
