Job Summary
**University Medical Billing ( UMB )** is a fully remote department that is viewed as the premier billing office for the University of Utah School of Medicine, serving over 1,800 providers and 30 different specialties across Utah and surrounding states. We are looking for an experienced **Revenue Cycle Analyst** to join our team. As the Revenue Cycle Analyst I you will analyze revenue cycle integrity and workflow processes to improve efficiency and achieve revenue objectives for an organization that provides healthcare patient services. Review data and reports, track key performance indicators, and provide actionable recommendations for critical business decisions. Work cross-functionally with various departments within the organization, such as finance, registration, billing, charge capture, coding, and payment posting, to communicate analytical findings and assist in implementation of recommended revenue cycle improvements. Requires basic skill set and proficiency. Conducts work assignments as directed. Closely supervised with little latitude for independent judgment.
Employment is contingent on the successful completion of a background check and the adherence to departmental policies, including UMB’s Telecommuting Agreement which requires a distraction-free and HIPAA compliant workplace, cameras on for all virtual calls/meetings, and the ability to work during office hours or assigned shift (M-F, approximately 8am to 5pm Mountain Time) regardless of what time zone you live in. Additionally, new hires are required to provide their own monitors (two) and reliable internet service.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions
1. Evaluate existing workflows requested by internal teams (i.e., quality assurance, reconciliation, accounts receivable, and finance) to identify and implement opportunities for improvement supported by data-driven decision making. 25%
2. Participate in the analysis and design of new integrated processes (i.e., new business requests, Epic upgrades, organizational projects) to define scope, guidelines, and deliverables. 25%
3. Contribute in cross-functional teams (i.e., quality, coding, and analysts; refresh/reboot projects, medical staff office, payer relations) that address strategic issues associated with users and/or system interactions. 25%
4. Maintain assigned project records and documentation (i.e., system automation, data library, issue tracker, new business, etc.). Perform ongoing maintenance evaluation for validity and efficacy. 15%
5. Develop reports within SlicerDicer and present findings to leadership and other personnel to identify and implement strategies to address tactical & strategic goals. 5%
6. Coordinate and/or conduct education and training on the proper workflow execution. 5%
7. Meet productivity and accuracy expectations of the position.
8. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
**EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT :** 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor’s degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels:
**Healthcare Revenue Cycle Analyst, I:** Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience or a master’s (or equivalency) degree.
**Health Revenue Cycle Analyst, II** : Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 4 years or a master’s (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience. Assumes work equivalency (1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience).
Preferences
An especially qualified candidate will also possess the following:
+ 4 years’ experience in billing, collections, denials, and/or accounts receivable
+ Experience working with, and analyzing/testing software applications ( EPIC Preferred)
+ Ability to complete rudimentary analysis and identify trends in data and define and document revenue cycle data sources and data definitions
+ Experience working effectively in a remote environment
+ Experience working within University of Utah systems
