    Job Summary

    The College of Engineering, Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Michigan, invites applicants for a part-time LEO Lecturer I position to co-teach ENTR 475.500, Perot Jain TechLab Air & Space: Exploration & Development during the Winter 2026 term. This is a part-time (15% effort), in-person position.

    Responsibilities*

    The Center for Entrepreneurship's courses epitomize experiential learning, demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindset, and are open to all U-M students.

     

    The person(s) in this position will be responsible for co-teaching ENTR 475.500, Perot Jain TechLab Air & Space: Exploration & Development (3 credits,) during the Winter 2026 term. This is a 3-credit course, the first of a two-course (6-credit) elective offering.

     

    The CFE's TechLab verticals (Air&Space, Climate Change, Electrification, HealthTech, Mcity) offer selected students hands-on, project-based learning in a team-based environment, structured to support startup companies in need of strategic and technical support to advance their emerging technologies. Students develop industry-focused skills, including technical leadership, project management, and product strategy. Emphasizing communication, strategic thinking, and entrepreneurial problem-solving, TechLab also explores market trends and project impact. Real-world technology applications are communicated in written reports and oral presentations. TechLab is an application-based, two-semester sequence.

    Sequence 1 Co-Instructor Responsibilities

    + Teach how technical decision-making aligns with startup strategy and leadership.

    + Deliver instruction in project management practices for fast-paced technical environments.

    + Coach students in effective professional communication and collaboration with startup partners.

    + Guide analysis of market and technology trends and their impact on product direction.

    + Introduce and apply strategic business frameworks (e.g., Business Model Canvas, Porter's Five Forces).

    + Mentor students in developing technical execution plans and product development roadmaps.

    + Foster entrepreneurial thinking and comfort with ambiguity and early-stage decision-making.

    + Support students' professional growth, reflection, and interdisciplinary teamwork skills.

     

    The course is scheduled for 14 weeks during the Winter 2026 term. Course faculty (co-instructors) will be jointly responsible for preparing interactive course materials, weekly lecturing, holding office hours weekly, preparing class exercises, preparing and grading assessments, managing and grading class projects, and attending the CFE's Faculty Community Meetings.

    Required Qualifications*

    + Master's degree in engineering or a relevant field (and/or equivalent combination of education and technical work experience)

    + Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and graduate students in a classroom environment

    + Demonstrated and successful practice of the entrepreneurial process in the aerospace, drone, or space technologies industries, directly advancing the mobility of people, data, and goods and services

    + Demonstrated expertise in organizational management, program management, and the entrepreneurial process, from idea conception, technology development, and growing a team, to fundraising

    + Ability to establish credibility and rapport with students

    + Strong communication skills, including oral and visual presentations

    + Ability to learn conceptual frameworks quickly and apply them to practical student needs

    Additional Information

     

    The CFE is searching for 2 co-instructors. Each co-instructor will hold a 15% effort (6 hours per week) appointment during the Winter 2026 term.

    This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
