Job Summary and Qualifications
The EEG Technician will discuss the meaning of medical prescriptions as applied to the entire role of neurodiagnostic regimes. EEG Technician will function under the general direction of the Cardiopulmonary/Neurology director and under the medical direction of the neurologist. Performs standard electroencephalographic recordings under minimum direction with responsibilities for obtaining standard as well as special procedures EEG’s. Technician transports patients, distributes final reports and maintains data management system for tests and some other duties as assigned by the department director. The EEG Technician will carry a beeper to ensure services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Communicates effectively with other members of the department as well as other healthcare providers including the medical staff, medical directors, and department director. Arrangements or call can be made with approval for the department director. Performs all other duties as assigned.
What you will do in this role:
+ Demonstrates competence in Meditech, properly processes documentation of tests performed.
+ Properly maintains data management system for electroencephalograms.
+ Participate in department Quality Improvement Process.
+ Monitors expenses incurred for cost containment of supplies.
+ Proper labels and stores pertinent data of exam for patient record.
+ Demonstrates proper processing and transferring of test for physician viewing.
+ Demonstrates proper post procedure care, cleans patients, and gives post instructions.
+ Demonstrates ability to properly place Holter Monitor and perform Signal Average EKGs.
+ Demonstrates skill in performing electrocardiograms, including skin preparation, measuring of head using 10-20 International system, properly preparing areas for electrode placement.
+ Demonstrates ability to troubleshoot problems with equipment or patients.
What qualifications you will need:
+ Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
