    About the Role

     

    They’re seeking a **Traffic Engineer** to support transportation planning, roadway design, and traffic analysis projects. This role blends technical work with coordination across agencies, consultants, and internal teams. It’s a strong fit for someone who enjoys traffic modeling, multimodal planning, and creating solutions that improve flow, safety, and accessibility across Hawai‘i’s transportation network.

    What You’ll Work On

    + Support the design and planning of roadways, intersections, and multimodal facilities

    + Evaluate traffic flow, congestion, and safety patterns using modeling tools and GIS

    + Prepare traffic impact studies, analysis reports, and technical documentation

    + Assist with roadway layouts, alignments, and cross-sections

    + Ensure all work meets applicable transportation standards and regulations

    + Coordinate with government agencies, consultants, and internal teams

    + Support project schedules, budgets, and general documentation

    + Present technical information to clients and other stakeholders when needed

    Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil preferred)

    + 5–10 years of traffic or transportation engineering experience

    + PE or PTOE certification is a plus

    + Experience with GIS tools and typical engineering/traffic modeling software

    + Ability to interpret plans, specifications, and design criteria

    + Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines

    + Valid driver’s license

    **$93,000 – $135,000** , based on experience.
