Superintendent – Marine & Heavy Civil (Major Federal Infrastructure Program)
O‘ahu, HI • $120,000–$160,000 (DOE)
About the Program
My client is leading one of the largest and most technically complex infrastructure projects in Hawai‘i’s history — the multi-billion-dollar replacement of a dry dock at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard. This multi-year federal program will expand critical maintenance capacity for the U.S. Navy and strengthen national defense capabilities in the Pacific.
This is a rare opportunity to join a long-term, career-defining project with national visibility and consistent workload for years to come.
About the Role
They are seeking highly skilled **Superintendents** with strong backgrounds in marine, heavy civil, and utilities construction. You will oversee day-to-day field operations on major civil packages, working in an environment that demands precision, safety, and coordination across multiple scopes.
You’ll be a key on-site leader — directing crews, supporting project planning, managing subcontractors, and ensuring all work meets federal, environmental, and EM 385-1-1 standards.
Key Responsibilities
+ Lead field crews and subcontractors across marine, utilities, and heavy civil scopes (concrete, structural steel, foundations, earthwork, and underground utilities).
+ Oversee daily jobsite operations with strict focus on safety, environmental protection, and EM 385-1-1 compliance.
+ Plan, sequence, and coordinate work to keep production on schedule and aligned with critical path milestones.
+ Support Project Managers and Engineers in resolving technical issues, updating schedules, and maintaining quality.
+ Manage labor, equipment, and onsite resources for efficient and cost-effective use.
+ Track production rates, equipment usage, quantities, and cost variances; implement corrective actions when needed.
+ Ensure proper material handling, formwork installation, marine equipment utilization, and field logistics.
+ Maintain strong communication with government stakeholders, inspectors, consultants, and internal teams.
+ Contribute to documentation, QC records, daily reports, permitting compliance, and closeout tasks.
+ Promote a culture of teamwork, safety, and professionalism on the project site.
What You Bring
+ **10+ years** of construction experience, including **5+ years as a Superintendent** on large-scale heavy civil, marine, or waterfront projects.
+ Experience with **dry docks, piers, wharfs, cofferdams, or federal facilities** is highly preferred.
+ Strong knowledge of **EM 385-1-1** , hazard identification, and three-phase QC processes.
+ Ability to read and interpret civil, structural, and marine drawings, specs, and procedures.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office; scheduling experience with **Primavera P6** or MS Project is a plus.
+ Proven leadership skills with experience managing diverse field crews and subcontractors in high-stakes environments.
+ Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
Why Join My Client?
+ **Competitive Salary:** $120,000–$160,000 (DOE)
+ **Benefits:** Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, Holidays, 401(k) with match
+ **Long-Term Stability:** Multi-year federal program with steady work and opportunities to move across scopes
