Job Title: Civil Project Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Civil Project Engineer who will receive technical guidance from senior management and work closely with clients to ensure successful project completion. The role involves planning, scheduling, and coordinating detailed phases of work, requiring independent evaluation and modification of standard techniques. The Project Engineer will supervise personnel, ensuring their professional advancement, and maintain regular client contact to monitor everyday operations.

Responsibilities

+ Apply general knowledge of other disciplines involved in multi-disciplined projects.

+ Demonstrate sufficient professional experience to assure competence as a fully trained engineer.

+ Prepare construction plans, estimates, specifications, and bid documents for local municipalities according to applicable agency standards.

+ Prepare proposal estimates of time and cost required to complete a project.

+ Assist in presenting proposals to clients and selecting a project team.

+ Determine major project design decisions in conjunction with the client, such as setbacks, location of roadways, storm drains, sewer, and other utility routes.

+ Assign duties to the project team, answer their questions, and monitor their progress.

+ Check the accuracy of completed work.

+ Maintain a close relationship with the client throughout the development of the project, assisting in selecting contractors, and maintaining client contact after project completion.

+ Monitor construction and review, and recommend change orders.

+ Ensure the timely and accurate completion of assigned projects.

+ Support various municipal projects, mainly within Oakland and Macomb counties, focusing on design, engineering, construction, contractor communication, and grant applications.

+ Use AutoCAD, MicroStation, and/or Civil 3D for design support.

Essential Skills

+ Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.

+ 3+ years of experience in Civil Design, Civil Construction, and/or Civil Project Engineering.

+ Experience with municipal and/or government civil design/construction projects.

+ Knowledge of CAD.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ 5+ years of experience is a plus.

+ EIT or PE certification is desirable.

+ Proficiency in MicroStation and/or Civil 3D design skills.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bloomfield Hills, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $45.00/hr.
