Central District Health (CDH) (https://cdh.idaho.gov/) is currently recruiting for a Health Education Specialist to join our dedicated group of public health professionals in ourHealth Policy and Promotion (https://cdh.idaho.gov/health/prevention-programs/) program. This position is based and works in our Boise office.

    Typical Duties:

    + Develop and implement suicide prevention activities as outlined in the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare (IDHW) Suicide Prevention sub-grant and Idaho Opioid Settlement Fund Exhibit A.

    + Track annual program budget, including personnel and operating expenditures.

    + Manage sub-grants, contracts, and mini-grants as applicable.

    + Complete and submit quarterly reports to IDHW and CDH Opioid Fund Strategist.

    + Develop and submit a district-wide, annual suicide prevention action plan with community partners

    + Develop and submit a district-wide, annual suicide prevention report summarizing previous year’s activities.

    + Obtain certification in evidence-based suicide prevention curricula (e.g., QPR, MHFA, YMHFA).

    + Conduct evidence-based, and best practice suicide prevention training across the CDH footprint as requested.

    + Participate in community events on behalf of CDH.

    + Act as subject matter expert on suicide prevention best practice.

    + Collaborate with CDH grant writer to find and apply for alternate funding sources.

    + Participate in state and out-of-state professional conferences.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Good knowledge of:

    + Public health education principles and practices to include needs assessment, information dissemination and community organization relating to common health problems.

    + Basic disease etiologies and preventive strategies.

    + Survey methods and basic statistics used to collect and interpret data.

    + Training methods.

    Experience:

    + Developing or reviewing and evaluating health-related informational material.
