Summary:
The Idaho Department of Correction is currently recruiting for an Administrative Support Manager to oversee the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) program, in all adult state prisons and community reentry centers managed by the Idaho Department of Correction. This position is located in Boise, Idaho, at Central Office.
Responsibilities:
+ Serves as IDOC’s point of contact for PREA issues, PREA Training, and PREA audits.
+ Ensures compliance with federal PREA Standards in policy and practice.
+ Responsible for maintaining current knowledge of all applicable standards and policies relating to PREA standards.
+ Research, analyze and interpret federal and state legislation.
+ Travel in order to be on site for federal audits and IDOC compliance checks.
+ Manage IDOC’s email for external parties reporting PREA issues.
+ Record, track, and retain records associated with PREA processes to include investigative reports, findings, and responses, and audit outcomes and action plans.
+ Create and maintain training curriculum that educates both IDOC staff and the resident population to current and/or changing PREA standards.
+ Host regular meetings with PREA Compliance Mangers to assess needs, discuss changes and provide direction and education.
+ Communicate, consult, and collaborate with local, state, and federal stakeholders regarding PREA reporting and alignment to federal standards.
+ Selects, trains, and directs supervisory staff and evaluates work performance.
+ Develops and directs implementation of section/bureau plans, priorities, performance standards, and procedures; coordinates support services with program services and other department, state and/or federal operations.
+ Manages budget(s) and directs preparation of financial management reports.
+ Coordinates and participates in strategic planning, monitoring, and evaluation.
+ May provide contracts consultation and monitor contracts.
+ Investigates, troubleshoots, and resolves or recommends solutions to complex issues, inquiries, and problems.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Good knowledge of management practices. This is typically gained by an Associate's degree, or completion of at least four upper division college courses, in business administration, public administration, or other closely related field that included all the essential elements of management (planning, organizing, leading, and controlling) OR one year of work experience in a job situation with responsibility for all the essential elements of management.
+ Experience: supervising staff; analyzing operational, management, or administrative problems to identify alternatives and implement solutions. This is typically gained through approximately two years of experience conducting studies or projects or serving on teams to analyze operational, management, or administrative problems and recommending solutions. Types of studies/projects would include issues involving staffing, overtime, budget, contracts, etc.
+ Allocating resources in a department or business environment; interpreting and applying laws, regulations and policies affecting department or business operations. This is typically gained through experience allocating resources (material, financial, or staff) within a department or business.
+ Preparing and making presentations to groups. This is typically gained through experience researching, compiling, and organizing information in order to make oral presentations about the information to groups in a business setting; topics may be informational, technical, or behavioral.
