Mechanical Design Engineer
Description
Lead full product development lifecycle—from concept sketches and feasibility through detailed design, prototyping, testing, documentation, and production launch.
Design mechanical assemblies, weldments, frames, linkages, lift systems, and cart structures using SolidWorks.
Develop powered/assisted mechanical solutions integrating motors, actuators, batteries, and controls (in collaboration with electrical partners).
Drive standardization and modularity across platforms while supporting custom engineered-to-order solutions.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
7+ years mechanical design engineering experience, ideally in material handling, industrial equipment, machinery, medical devices, or custom engineered solutions.
Proficiency with SolidWorks (3D modeling, assemblies, drawings, weldments).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with hands-on prototype experience.
Proven experience owning projects from concept to production launch.
Knowledge of mechanical systems including structures, motion components, powertrain elements, and lifting/handling mechanisms.
Understanding of DFMA, tolerance stack-up, engineering change management, and BOM structure.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Minneapolis, MN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $70.00/hr.
