**Pay Range:** $57.36 - $85.47 per hour
Rush salaries are determined by many factors including, but not limited to, education, job-related experience and skills, as well as internal equity and industry specific market data. The pay range for each role reflects Rush’s anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position. Offers may vary depending on the circumstances of each case.
Summary:
The Senior Director of Medical Student Affairs oversees all administrative and operational aspects of medical student affairs, ensuring a positive and supportive environment for medical students. The Senior Director collaborates directly with the Medical Student Affairs Dean in planning and supporting the evolution and growth of Student Affairs in the medical college. The position requires strategic planning, policy development, and program implementation related to student well-being, academic advising, career planning, and student life. This position oversees professional and administrative staff, collaborates with faculty and other administrators within RMC and the broader RU community. This position also exemplifies the Rush mission, vision, and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.
Required Job Qualifications:
1. Ph.D. in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, strong career development experience.
2. 8-10 years of related experience
3. Understanding of medical education and recruitment
4. Curriculum delivery and development
5. Excellent written and oral communication skills
6. Exceptional leadership and supervisory skills
7. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
8. Commitment to working effectively with diverse populations
9. Ability to initiate, cultivate and maintain relationships with a range of personnel: students, faculty, administrative staff, industry leaders among other key internal and external constituents
10. Strong technology/data management skills
11. Familiarity with LCME accreditation regulations, policies and processes
12. Familiarity with ranking and reporting agencies
Preferred Job Qualifications:
1. Ph.D. in Higher Education, social work or related field
2. Progressive responsibility in higher education
3. Familiarity with undergraduate and/or graduate medical education
4. Experience in higher education career services and/or support services (academic, enrollment knowledge or services, disability or wellness services)
5. Knowledge of undergraduate medical education training requirements and accreditation
6. Knowledge of student information systems (i.e., Hand Shake, Banner, Colleague, Peoplesoft, WorkDay, Salesforce)
7. Familiarity with specific medical school resources (i.e., AAMC and LCME)
Physical Demands:
• Able to sit for extended periods
• Able to work effectively with hybrid schedule
• Able to work extended (10-12 hour) workdays
Competencies:
Comprehensive understanding of career development coaching and mentoring; History of leadership and supervision, college teaching experience and strong management and organizational skills
Responsibilities:
1) Provide strategic direction and leadership for: key functional areas including Operations, Academic Support, Academic Advising, and Career Professional Development; budgeting; and resources
2) Strategically recruit, lead, and support personnel for organizational stability and growth. Key personnel include Senior Manager Academic Support, Managers, and Coordinators
3) Maintain cross-functional collaborations with RU offices/departments as well as OIME offices/departments/teams
4) Design and conduct MSA program assessment (identify key metrics for goal setting and service delivery)
5) Set and evaluate strategic goals with leaders of key functional areas
6) Lead direction of operational and supportive technologies
7) Ensure compliance with relevant policies, procedures, and regulations related to accreditation and ranking/reporting agencies
8) Oversee all marketing and communication regarding MSA programming and services to key constituencies and electronic platforms
9) Participate and engage in in one-on-one career development consultations with medical students
