Brief Job Description

The Head Football Coach is responsible for the organization, development, and leadership of a varsity intercollegiate football program in support of the mission and core values of the Athletic Department and Buffalo State University. Duties include hiring staff; recruiting and retaining top prospective student-athletes; establishing a competitive schedule; coordinating practice planning, skill development, and designing strategies which prepare team for competition; mentoring student-athletes; overseeing development initiatives; organizing football camps; and budget management; collaborates with numerous athletic and College units; demonstrates adherence to College, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations. The head football coach is responsible for all aspects of coaching and administering the football program. Will perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics that are consistent with the skills and abilities related to this position and that address the College’s strategic goals.

This is an Appendix B position not eligible for permanent appointment.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree

Established record of successful college football coaching including experience at an NCAA institution

Experience as a coordinator or head coach

Proven ability to recruit and retain quality student-athletes

Excellent communication and organizational skills

A commitment to the values of NCAA Division III Athletics.
