    JOB SUMMARY

    This position is primarily responsible for walk-ins to provide crisis intervention services, supportive listening, information and referral; develop safety plans. Assist client with needs which have been identified through needs assessment. Work with clients to assist them with resources and referrals, such as emergency shelter, housing, applications for aid, counseling, Assist victims with securing alternate emergency housing (out-of-county DV shelter, temporary motel lodging, family and friends, etc.) including transportation and food, when shelter option is not available.

    MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Develop an individual comprehensive success plan that addresses the core issues of the client; monitor this plan weekly at Case Management/Coaching sessions with resident.

    + Develop resource information and teach residents to appropriately access community resources and services.

    + Maintain accurate and complete records as required.

    + Provide transportation as needed for appointments and activities

    + Use Case Management database to document all client activities and statistics-keep up to date always

    + Complete accurate, thorough and typed progress notes in a timely manner

    + Facilitate/Assist in Facilitation of support groups, events, workshops regarding Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault with other members of the Domestic Violence Team.

    + Participate in staff and program meetings

    + Demonstrate flexibility in your work environment in which there are often competing or changing priorities. Be part of a cohesive and effective team.

    + Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and limits with clients.

    + Follow all policies, procedures and guidelines as outlined in the program manual.

    + Attend all assigned training and workshops

    + Perform other duties as assigned

    + Because of the Tribe’s commitment to community service and the well-being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time-to-time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.

    EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION

    Associates degree required. Bachelor’s degree in human service major preferred. Must have a clean, valid WA Driver’s license. Must be willing to complete 35-40 hours of Domestic Violence Advocacy training within the first six months of employment and provide certificate of completion.

    SPECIFIC SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR POSITION

    + Communication skills: Demonstrates good verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Active listener. Speaks clearly and uses a clear tone. Written communication is clear, complete, and legible.

    + Customer Service: Models excellent customer service skills and behavior that is courteous, respectful, helpful and resourceful. Demonstrates and encourages a positive attitude and approach when dealing with clients and internal staff.

    + Cultural competency: Able to work with various ethnicities in a positive manner. Promotes an environment of honor and respect regarding cultural differences.

    + Confidentiality: Strong knowledge of code of ethics and privacy principles, understanding and application of HIPAA Laws and regulations.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    Will frequently stand, walk, balance, bend, crouch, reach, twist, pull/push, and use manual dexterity. Will continuously speak, hear, and use vision. Will work indoors continuously. Will occasionally sit, lift, carry, climb, kneel, crawl, reach, and grasp. Will occasionally work with excessive noise and be exposed to weather.

     

    Licenses or Certifications Required

     

    A valid Washington State driver’s license is required at the time of appointment or at a time set by the Tribe.
