Join our highly engaged Surgical Acute II team (7th floor) as a surgical acute nurse working at Scripps Health Mercy San Diego. You’ll join a team of skilled medical professionals who provide superior health services in a caring environment. The Scripps Health team is dedicated to making a positive, measurable difference in the health of individuals in the communities we serve.

The RN Clinical Mentor functions primarily as an RN with additional duties. Take responsibility for assigned patients during RN relief periods. Works collaboratively and educationally with other members of the patient care team to ensure optimal patient care. Take responsibility for education and guidance of Registered Nurses regarding the nursing process, critical thinking, accountability for the plan of care and it's relation to patient outcomes, and communication/collaboration with all team members. Functions as a clinical expert, role model, mentor and resource in a designated practice area. Works collaboratively with the Charge Nurse, Educator and Manager of that area to develop a learning environment for the caregivers, as well as a service, outcome and care oriented environment for the patients**

*Experience/Specialized Skills*:

• Minimum three years experience in an acute care setting preferred.

• Minimum two years experience in the specialty area preferred. Must be able to speak, read and follow instructions in English.

• Excellent interpersonal skills.

*Required Certification/Registration:*

• Current California RN license required.

• Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification required.

*Preferred Qualifications:*

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing

• Bariatric Certification preferred
