    ### Job Duties

    Position: Adult Education Digital Navigator & Instructor

     

    Salary: $20.00-22.00

     

    Schedule: Two academic quarters per year will be 8am-4:30pm; the remaining two quarters will be 12:00pm-8:30pm

Today, we serve more than 30,000 individuals annually across six neighborhoods, striving for a community where everyone can thrive.

    POSITION SUMMARY

    Neighborhood House is seeking a full-time Digital Navigator & Instructor to support New American participants in the classroom, one-on-one, and at our monthly resource hub events. In partnership with other Neighborhood House New American support staff, the Digital Navigator & Instructor will support participants who do not qualify for federally funded supports.

     

    The Digital Navigator & Instructor will work closely with the New American Resource Navigator to identify families that need Digital Navigation Services, a cohort of staff serving New American families, and staff members from the following departments: Food Support, Housing Support, and Operations. Additionally, the Digital Navigator & Instructor will co-teach digital literacy alongside other Adult Education Instructors.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Direct Service & Case Management

    • Provide individualized digital navigation support & digital literacy instruction to New American families

    • Assist participants in understanding their options for reliable, affordable home internet, including service setup and troubleshooting.

    • Support families in securing digital devices as available through grant-funded technology distribution

    • Work with participants using in-person meetings, phone calls, and online communication to ensure they are connected to appropriate community resources

    • Build partnerships with community organizations to create warm referral pathways for New Americans.

    • Complete quarterly follow-up with participants receiving digital inclusion services.

    • Co-plan and support technology distribution events funded through the New Americans Grant.

    • Enroll students and monitor their progress on distance learning programs.

    • Provide ongoing support to ensure families can fully access digital tools and online systems.

    • Conduct proactive outreach at Neighborhood House’s monthly Resource Hub events to ensure newly arrived immigrant and refugee families are aware of and connected to digital navigation services, Adult Education opportunities, and New Americans Grant supports.

    • Build and maintain partnerships with community collaborators, including Ramsey County, Prepare and Prosper, Saint Paul Public Library, Literacy Minnesota, Repowered, and PCs for People.

    Digital Literacy Education

    • Lead and co-teach high-quality and engaging digital literacy lessons for adult learners 8-12 hours a week, which may include online instruction

    • Co-plan and present digital navigation workshops for internal and external partners, with a focus on serving New Americans

    • Proctor Northstar Digital Literacy Assessments; track student testing eligibility

    • Assess participants’ digital literacy needs, technology access, and skill levels connected to their personal and family goals.

    • Coach participants to use their home internet and digital devices confidently.

    • Support and teach participants to access Distance Learning platforms

    • Maintain the class webpage and course management system (CMS) with class materials

    • Help set and monitor student goals

    • Participate in ongoing professional development related to the goals and objectives of the position

    Database & Systems Management

    • Use the ClientTrack and SiD databases to maintain accurate, confidential records.

    • Complete SID database training, CASAS Steps training, CCRS Foundations, ABE Foundations, and Northstar Foundations Training.

    • Collect and enter all required data using Client Track software in accordance with agency and funding requirements.

    • Track student attendance in the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) state database (SID).

    • Implement program evaluation tools and track progress using relevant database(s)

    • Maintain confidentiality of program participants in accordance with data privacy laws, standards and policy.

    • Prepare or assist with preparation of program reports as instructed by funding agreements and supervisor.

    ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Actively support and champion the mission and programs of Neighborhood House.

    • Actively support Neighborhood House’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, access, and radical hospitality. Conduct all activities with a high degree of cultural competency.

    • Maintain effective, collaborative working relationships with colleagues, participants, donors, board members, volunteers, and community partners.

    • Consistently uphold Neighborhood House policies, procedures, and confidentiality protocols.

    • When representing Neighborhood House to internal and external audiences, articulate the organization’s desired image and position.

    • Contribute to building a cohesive, respectful, responsive, and productive staff environment that demonstrates our values and mission.

    • Actively participate in required meetings, trainings, and other events as requested.

    EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

    Required Qualifications

    • 1-3 years of experience working with immigrants and refugees, preferably in Adult Basic Education, English Language Learning, or GED

    • Bachelor’s degree required

    • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills in English

    • Strong time management skills with demonstrated ability to manage tasks, projects, and priorities

    • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with people of diverse ethnic, economic, racial, and cultural backgrounds

    • Working knowledge of racial equity and social justice issues relevant to the communities we serve.

    • Working knowledge of immigrant/refugee trends and needs, self-sufficiency issues, and community resources.

    • Demonstrated ability to move projects to completion by deadlines.

    • Committed to working both independently and as part of a team.

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and Google Educator Suite.

    Desired Qualifications

    • Curriculum development experience.

    • Proficiency in language(s) other than English; fluency in one or more of the following: Oromo, Amharic, Somali, Hmong, Spanish, Pashto, Karen, Tigrinya

    • Experience providing technology help, digital troubleshooting, or basic IT support

    WORK LOCATION

    This in-person role is based in St. Paul, MN.
