• About the Role
We’re looking for a dedicated Sterile Processing Technician to join our team and help us continue delivering the level of care our patients and families deserve. In this role, you’ll be a vital part of our team, ensuring excellent service, collaboration, and patient outcomes in a fast-paced healthcare environment. You'll use special devices to sterilize instruments and other materials. Sterile Processing technicians assume responsibility for reprocessing and delivery of re-usable instruments, sets, and linen packs. SPT's are responsible for ensuring adequate sterile supply levels are maintained in the operating room and other units.
• What You’ll Do
Sterilization: Operate Steam and low-temperature sterilizers and high-level disinfection equipment daily. Reprocesses all re-usable instruments, flexible endoscopes, probes and off-sites according to manufacturer’s instructions for use.
Organization: Assembles instrument trays according to manufacturer’s instructions for use/instrument count sheets; provides missing list when instruments are missing. Completes stocking and inventory.
Time Management: Follows instructions accurately, organizes multiple tasks, and establishes day-to-day priorities. Utilizes instrument tracking system.
Safety: Follows universal precautions while working in the decontamination room.
Communication: Verifies with Operating Room staff that proper instruments, sets and equipment are on hand and working properly. Provides information accurately and completely. Identifies service-related problems and suggests ways to improve quality and productivity.
Teamwork: Ensures that all areas are clean, organized, and ready for the next shift.
Equipment Maintenance: Monitors the documenting of all chemical and biological/bowie-dick testing,
Responsible for testing all equipment used for reprocessing. Reports malfunctions to CSR Management. Cleans and monitors all necessary equipment.
• What You Bring
+ High school graduate or GED required
+ Previous work experience in Central Sterile Supply preferred
+ Central Sterile Certification through a nationally accredited agency preferred
+ Must achieve Central Sterile certification through a nationally accredited agency or must obtain this certification within 18 months of date of hire to advance to Level II. Must complete annual continuing education requirements to maintain Central Sterile Technician certification.
