About this Job
The mission of the Secretary of State's office is to serve the public by meeting its legal responsibilities of collecting, securing, and communicating information that enhances commerce, ensures the integrity of Louisiana's elections, and preserves, presents, and makes accessible government information essential to Louisiana's operations and its recorded history.
This position is in our Information Technology Help Desk team, where you will provide essential end-user support for various hardware components, as well as both in-house developed and commercial off-the-shelf software solutions.
Minimum Qualifications
Three years of experience in information technology; OR
Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus one year of experience in information technology; OR
An associate's degree in information technology plus one year of experience in information technology; OR
A bachelor’s degree plus one year of experience in information technology.
A bachelor’s degree with twenty-four semester hours in an information technology, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or business analytics field.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
NOTE:
A certification in an approved area may be substituted for the education and/or experience requirements at the time of hire or promotion, provided the appointment is made from a Certificate of Eligibles.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
+ End user support for both hardware and inhouse/commercial software
Ideal Skills:
+ Ability to use computer in daily work assignments.
+ Ability to communicate politely with user community.
+ Ability to communicate technical issues to a non-technical person.
+ Ability to lift 50 pounds for equipment purposes.
+ Ability to walk, push, pull, bend, kneel, stretch, stoop, etc. in order to prepare, install, and maintain computer equipment.
+ Ability to use analytical skills and solve problems.
+ Ability to communicate in person, by phone and in writing.
+ Ability to meet deadlines.
