    Job Description

    The OCI Network Region Networking and Scaling team deploys and scales network designs with our tools to support the massive growth of OCI network infrastructure. The team partners with Oracle teams to support the capacity of region builds, new data centers, site expansions, capacity expansions, and decommissioning, enabling OCI to continue to grow its footprint in both existing regions and to entirely new regions.

     

    We’re looking for a Senior Manager of Network Development for the Network Region Build team with expertise and passion in building teams, coaching individuals, and tackling new challenges in designing, implementing and maintaining highly available and scalable networks for managing design delivery and platform lifecycle. The candidates applying for this role should be passionate about operations and the customer experience.

     

    This leader will have experience with direct leadership, ability to formulate strategy, assist in validating and improving engineering functions, delivery of services and process improvement. With the rapid growth of our organization, the leader should be comfortable operating in large, complex teams with the skills for driving details, but also up-level communication for senior executives.

     

    What are the biggest challenges for the team?

     

    The biggest challenges for the team is scaling the business to support our exponential growth to meet capacity and network demands of our large scale customers, dedicated cloud customers, multi-cloud expansions and existing customer growth.

     

    You should be responsible to provide leadership, direction, and strategy to the team, establish and develop the team to meet and implement the strategy, working with geographically distributed teams, and contributing to the success of your team and other related teams. We expect you to deliver large-scale projects on time with high quality.

    In this role you will:

    + Operate as a leader within Networking; hire, develop people, manage performance, drive teams to produce needed guidance to feed our short- and long- term group needs

    + Supports the deployment, scaling, and operations of a large-scale global Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). Primarily focused on the development and support of network fabric and systems through a combination of a deep understanding of protocol-level networking and programming skills. As OCI is a cloud-based network with a global footprint, this support will include hundreds of thousands of network devices supporting millions of servers, connected over a mix of dedicated backbone infrastructure, CLOS Network, and the Internet.

    Required Qualifications:

    + Thorough understanding of process development, network technologies, including network design and fabrics, networking protocols, network automation, network telemetry and common hardware platforms.

    + Direct knowledge of cloud infrastructure and management.

    + Line management experience (direct reports); demonstrated ability to lead organization planning, hiring, performance management.

    + Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams, dive deep, and communicate key metrics to senior management in a timely manner.

    + Record of meeting deadlines while managing multiple projects in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.

    + Critical attention to detail.

    + Manage both technical and non-technical projects.

    + 10+ years experience delivering and operating large scale, highly available network environments (large cloud, ISP, or service provider)

    + Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related field

    + Experience in data center and/or service provider network environments, with a focus on operations

    + Understanding of networking technologies and protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, etc.)

    + Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis experience

    + Experience managing software development project a plus (but not required)

    + Participate in on call rotation for incident management.

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities:

    + Own and develop highly available delivery plans.

    + Lead deployment, scaling and automation of programs across the physical network.

    + Attract, develop & manage a team of highly skilled engineers.

    + Define and develop roadmaps to deliver engineering and operational efficiencies.

    + Develop, grow, and maintain data-driven metric programs that speak to both the operational and business status of the services owned within the physical networking domain.

    + Solve difficult problems in distributed systems, infrastructure, and highly available services.

    + Collaborate with Program Management, Acquisition, DataCenter (Design, Build and Operations teams), NetworkEngineering, Network Availability, Network Automation, Network Monitoring, and GNOC operations.

    + Support building and scaling organizations to deliver a highly available service to our customers.

    + Participate in on-call rotation for managers.

    + Manage both technical and non-technical projects.

    US: Hiring Range in USD from: $118,300 to $251,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

     

    Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

     

    Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.

    10. Paid sick leave: 72 hours of paid sick leave upon date of hire. Refreshes each calendar year. Unused balance will carry over each year up to a maximum cap of 112 hours.
