    Responsibilities and practice

     

    The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania office of Dentons Cohen & Grigsby P.C. is seeking an associate with 3-5 years of civil litigation experience in the areas of business and commercial litigation to join our highly regarded Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice. The successful candidate will have outstanding academic credentials and experience in sophisticated, high-stakes litigation. We are looking for someone who is nimble and efficient, with the ability to contribute at a high level both as part of a larger team and by managing cases on their own from start to finish. If you are ready to work towards your long-term goals of developing and growing your legal practice, join our team. The person hired for this position will be part of a dedicated team and will support the practice by assuming such responsibilities as:

     

    + Manage cases from inception to conclusion

    + Conduct factual investigations and research, interact with clients

    + Draft research memos, motions, briefs, pleadings and discovery

    + Research relevant case law, statutes and regulations

    + Prepare for and conduct depositions, argue motions

    + Conduct and manage all aspect of discovery, including e-discovery

    + Prepare for, assist in and conduct hearings and trials

    + Assist in business development and marketing opportunities

    Position requirements

    Personal skills/attributes

    + Is conscientious and responsive, with attention to detail while handling a large volume of cases and working under demanding deadlines

    + Is a self-starter who takes initiative and works well independently, but embraces teamwork and collaborates effectively with others who have different styles

    + Has excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to clearly communicate advice to clients and others

    + Possesses strong analytical skills and thinks strategically

    + Is ambitious, exhibits leadership and motivates others

    + Is dedicated, with a record of academic and professional success

    + Is seeking increased autonomy, a broad scope of responsibilities and a wide range of professional experience

    Technical skills

    + 3-5 years of commercial litigation experience is required

    + Excellent written communication and drafting skills, with experience drafting memos, pleadings, motions and discovery and an ability to produce concise and effective written work product are required

    + Outstanding legal research skills are required

    Other requirements

    •Should be licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and be in good standing
