Responsibilities and practice

Dentons US LLP is seeking a mid-level or senior associate to join our sophisticated Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice in any of our California offices. Candidates should have 4-8 years of complex litigation experience, excellent academic credentials, and proven analytic ability. Ideal candidates will have extensive litigation experience on sophisticated legal matters, including exposure to insurance litigation. Our associates work collaboratively with our partners and clients and are key members of our team. Expected responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

+ Working on all aspects of commercial litigation from inception through trials and appeals

+ Conducting legal research and writing memoranda

+ Drafting complex case analyses and preparing briefs, pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents

+ Conducting, propounding and responding to discovery (documents, written discovery, depositions)

+ Working with clients, witnesses, experts and other counsel

Pursuant to California law, the salary range for this position will be $280,000 to $380,000, based on experience and location. Based on years of experience, Dentons associates may have a title of Associate, Managing Associate, or Senior Managing Associate. + Exceptional writing and analytical skills, and effectively communicates research into meaningful written work product

+ Demonstrates an ability to effectively communicate with colleagues and clients, as well as adversaries and courts

Technical skills

+ 4-8 years of experience in complex, sophisticated litigation is required

+ Strong writing and case management skills, level appropriate direct experience handling clients and adversaries, and excellent oral advocacy skills are required

+ Deposition and court experience is preferred

Other requirements

+ Must be licensed to practice law in the State of California and be in good standing

+ Must include the following with application: a law school transcript, a writing sample, and a cover letter detailing complex litigation experience, including insurance litigation experience
