    Job Description:

    The Data Center Technician I is responsible for the high availability and resiliency of the infrastructure within the data center boundary. The Data Center boundary consists of Data Center, TSER (Telecommunications Service Entrance Room), TEC (Technology Equipment Center) and TDR- (Technology Distribution Room) locations within Hospitals, Clinics and all other Intermountain Health building locations. Job duties consist of helping to oversee the coordinated efforts of data center maintenance, troubleshooting and incident response. Areas of responsibilities comprise of general electrical, environmental, access and surveillance, monitoring, cable management and fire systems. Performs cabling, racking, and server installations. Additionally, the technician provides operational & engineering support to various stakeholders of the data center boundaries, including Facilities, Physical Security, IT systems, storage, network, telecommunications and other customers. The level I technologist demonstrates a basic familiarity and minimal experience with data center operations and technology. Incumbent's ability encompasses a subset of the total knowledge required within the data center specialty area, and incumbent is in process of developing remaining skills. Requires additional support and/or training to become fully proficient and to operate at higher level roles. The work of a level I technician is normally overseen by higher level technical contributors.

    + **Essential Functions**

    + Supports, maintains, and monitors the data center boundary, including power, cooling, fire suppression, and the cable plant.

    + Installs, tests, and troubleshoots data center infrastructure cabling.

    + Assists in the development and administration of business continuity or disaster recovery plans.

    + Maintains current documentation for cabling infrastructure requests, directing minor repairs and changes.

    + Provides incident response within the data center as needed and ensures on-call availability.

    + Acts as a partner to IT, Facilities, and third party consumers of Data Center services.

    + Actively documents and follows formal standard operating procedures (SOP) and methods of procedure (MOP) for data center operations as well as corporate policies.

    + Participates in projects and programs throughout the data center ecosystem, inspecting and verifying work to ensure compliance with specified standards.

    + Demonstrate general Data Center experience, or any combination of equivalent education and experience.

    + Demonstrate technical work experience. Infrastructure cabling, environmental, electrical or other Data Center areas.

    + Demonstrate basic knowledge of electricity, HVAC, UPSs, cabling infrastructure, and fire suppression systems.

    + Demonstrated basic knowledge of data and telephony demarcation.

    + Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities.

    + Hands-on troubleshooting experience.

    + Demonstrated strong verbal/written communications skills, interpersonal skills with the ability to work within a dynamic team environment. **Preferred Qualifications**

    + Certification or credentials, such as Data Center Foundation Certificate (DCFC), BICSI Installer-1 or Installer-2

    + IT Certifications in various technologies, such as Cisco (CCNA)

    + Certification for Electrical & Telecommunication accreditation, such as IACET. **Physical Requirements**

    + Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.

    + Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.

    + Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.

    + Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.

    + Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)

    + May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.

    The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

     

    $19.94 - $30.57
