+ GENERAL SUMMARY
+ The Developmental Care Coordinator PTOTST is instrumental in the design, coordination, education, evaluation and/or implementation of the developmental care program related to the patient care process in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Reports to department leadership.
+ ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Provides education to a group of staff, healthcare professionals, patients, families and/or community.
+ Provides direct patient care to include assessments and treatment of neonates in the NICU.
+ Conducts developmental evaluations of former NICU patients.
+ Participates in interdisciplinary rounding, collaborating with other team members to create a developmental plan of care for NICU patients.
+ Serves as an expert, role model, and mentor for the health care team in developmental care practices.
+ Ensures that unit developmental care practices are based on current developmental care research and are integrated into related unit/hospital policies and procedures.
+ Collaborates with management and staff to ensure that the culture of the NICU supports developmental care.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
+ LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
+ Required Licenses and/or Certifications
+ Current state licensure as a Speech, Occupational or Physical Therapist with specialization in Neonatal or Pediatrics required.
+ Must meet and maintain state licensure, certification and/or educational requirements as a Speech, Occupational or Physical Therapist.
+ Preferred Licenses and/or Certifications
+ Certified Neonatal Therapist preferred.
+ MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
+ Required Education and Experience
+ Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in occupational, physical or speech therapy, or related field
+ Minimum of 5 years pediatric experience required.
+ Previous work experience using advanced clinical skills and continuing education in early intervention practice required.
+ Preferred Education and Experience
+ None preferred.
+ Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
+ Advanced professional knowledge of clinical theory and practice.
+ Previous working knowledge of common medical and behavioral issues of infants with complex health care needs/long term hospitalization.
+ Must possess leadership, critical thinking, strong communication and interaction skills.
+ Ability to work collaboratively with all disciplines, advocate for a holistic approach to developmental services and demonstrate flexibility in a variety of situations as well as excellent organizational and communication skills.
+ WORKING CONDITIONS
+ Clinical patient care environment with minimal exposure to hazards such as excess noise, dust, or extremes in temperature. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, body fluids and other conditions common to the healthcare environment.
