    Key Responsibilities

    Sustaining Engineering & Process Improvement:

    + Identify opportunities to improve existing product designs and manufacturing processes.

    + Implement cost-reduction and quality-improvement initiatives without compromising safety or performance.

    Engineering Change Management:

    + Prepare, review, and execute ECNs in accordance with company procedures.

    + Ensure timely communication and documentation of design changes across departments.

    Bill of Materials (BOM) Management:

    + Create, update, and maintain BOMs for all mechanical assemblies.

    + Validate BOM accuracy and ensure alignment with ERP/PLM systems.

    Troubleshooting & Failure Analysis:

    + Investigate product failures and root causes using structured problem-solving techniques.

    + Develop corrective actions and implement design or process changes as needed.

    Collaboration:

    + Work closely with electrical engineers, firmware engineers, and production teams to resolve technical issues.

    + Support supply chain and quality teams in vendor qualification and material selection.

    Compliance & Documentation:

    + Ensure all designs meet regulatory, safety, and quality standards.

    + Maintain detailed engineering documentation, including drawings, specifications, and test reports.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    Education:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

    Experience:

    + 3–5 years in mechanical design or sustaining engineering within a manufacturing environment.

    + Experience with ECNs, BOM management, and troubleshooting product failures.

    Technical Skills:

    + roficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).

    + Familiarity with PLM/ERP systems for BOM and revision control.

    + Knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, injection molding, sheet metal, etc.).

    This is a Contract position based out of Valparaiso, IN.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $41.00/hr.
