Job Title: Quality Assurance Technician
Great opportunity for new grads to gain industry experience within food production and testing! This is a 24/7 facility so flexibility in shifts and working weekends is required.
Job Description
A Quality Assurance Technician provides crucial support to the Quality Assurance Department. This role involves conducting quality audits, performing various laboratory functions such as swabbing, coli form plating, calibrating, and antibiotic testing. The technician will uphold USDA, SQF/QA, GMP, HACCP, and Safety policies and procedures to meet production needs. 'Food Safety and Quality' are primary responsibilities in this position. In the absence of a Quality Assurance Technician, these duties will be managed by another technician or the Quality Assurance Manager.
Responsibilities
+ Perform weekly tasks including environmental swabbing, airplates, and thermometer calibration.
+ Conduct noon and midnight inventory of fluid silos.
+ Monitor wastewater, pH, EC, and COD.
+ Carry out micro plating, WPN, antibiotic confirmation testing, and TA testing.
+ Send daily samples to DA and Sierra for testing.
+ Pull and re-test customer samples.
+ Maintain cleanliness and order in laboratory areas.
+ Accurately complete and file all paperwork and documentation.
+ Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP).
+ Care for and maintain laboratory equipment and tools.
+ Update quality and procedure manuals, calibrations, waste water reports, and air quality monitoring.
+ Follow all safety and working rules.
+ Foster positive relationships with co-workers, management, customers, vendors, and employees.
+ Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to a quality work environment.
+ Demonstrate excellent full-time attendance to support company objectives.
+ Exercise initiative and judgment in decision-making, as per management directives.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelors Degree in Dairy Science, Food Science, Microbiology, or Associates in a related field and/or 5 years of direct experience in a food laboratory setting.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
+ Basic computational skills and simple math reasoning.
+ Ability to work safely and efficiently, following all safety procedures and using safety equipment.
+ Capability to seek assistance when processes are unclear.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Must acquire and maintain a the person/Oven Solids Tester license.
+ Certified Industry Supervisor certification on drug residue testing.
Work Environment
The work environment involves exposure to various temperatures ranging from 34 to over 100 degrees. Employees may encounter ammonia, acids, caustics, chlorines, paints, particles, oils and lubricants, steam, pneumatics, fumes, and hazardous gases. Personal protective equipment, including hearing protection, bump caps, hair and beard nets, gloves, and eye protection, is required. Proper lifting techniques must be employed at all times.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pixley, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
