The Environmental Health and Safety Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with safety regulations, conducting risk assessments, and developing programs to promote a safe working environment. This position requires a thorough understanding of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) requirements, including regulatory and compliance knowledge.
Responsibilities
+ Lead all EHS requirements and set an example for others to follow.
+ Create a culture of awareness, acceptance, and adherence to EHS requirements.
+ Inspect the facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risks.
+ Schedule routine inspections and implement training according to findings.
+ Assist in maintaining appropriate Health, Safety, Environmental, Industrial, and Process Safety Programs along with necessary related training.
+ Audit, analyze, and improve EHS performance data.
+ Perform facility audits, surveys, and inspections to identify environmental and occupational hazards, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and develop solutions or process improvements.
+ Manage SDS data and ensure safety in material handling.
+ Proactively meet EHS requirements to reduce exposure and control risk.
+ Manage EHS projects and ensure timely closure.
+ Attend training and seminars and deliver training to staff in the facility.
+ Track compliance with various Federal, State, and Local environmental requirements.
+ Assist with preparation of EPA and OSHA requirements, including but not limited to OSHA 300 log, RCRA, storm water/wastewater, Large Quantity Generator Hazardous Waste, and Air Emissions annual inventory report.
+ Develop and implement training for all personnel to ensure understanding and compliance with EH&S programs and environmental permit conditions.
+ Assist with chemical and hazardous waste management.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
+ 2-5 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Thorough understanding of OSHA and EPA compliance standards, and regulations related to storm water/wastewater, RCRA, Air Emissions reporting, and other federal, state, and local laws.
+ Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, EPA, and HAZWOPER requirements.
+ Experience in risk management, ergonomics, personal protective equipment, industrial safety, injury and incident investigation, reporting, and auditing.
+ Ability to read and interpret technical documents, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
+ Exceptional independent judgment and discretion with the ability to take initiative on tasks without significant supervision.
+ Strong presentation, delivery, and facilitation skills; ability to engage an audience.
+ Ability to compile effective and concise visual reports in charts, graphs, and tables.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in manufacturing is desired.
+ Systematic thinking ability and strong liaison skills.
+ Ability to interact effectively and professionally with a variety of individuals at all levels within a multicultural environment and with outside agencies, vendors, contractors, and regulatory representatives.
Work Environment
This position operates in a climate-controlled manufacturing plant. The role requires familiarity with current manufacturing techniques and may involve forklift train-the-trainer responsibilities. The work environment is safe, clean, and hazard-free, promoting a culture of safety and compliance.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Memphis, TN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.44 - $40.87/hr.
