Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Application Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in ID/OD grinding with at least 1 year of CNC experience, preferably in ID/OD grinding. This role involves facilitating time studies, test grinds, process development, and conducting on/off site training. Please note that travel is expected 60-80% of the time, including overnight stays.
Responsibilities
+ Prepare, set up, and operate grinding/CNC equipment.
+ Demonstrate proficiency in using Fanuc and/or Siemens controls.
+ Read and write CNC program code fluently.
+ Interpret blueprints, CAD designs, sketches, and engineering drawings accurately.
+ Work with close tolerances, both imperial and metric.
+ Understand and apply inspection techniques using appropriate equipment, gauges, and micrometers.
+ Perform machine demonstrations, test grinds, time studies, feasibility studies, runoffs, and process development.
+ Review customer requirements and collaborate with the Applications/Sales Team to select proper tools, grinding wheels, and processes.
+ Conduct and facilitate training classes both in-house and at off-site facilities.
+ Assist in prototype machine PLC and option testing of mechanical and control software functions.
+ Demonstrate techniques, methods, and procedures for machine tool equipment and related attachments.
+ Provide technical support remotely to customers, salespersons, and distributors.
+ Identify and resolve customer issues through phone, video conference, and email.
+ Utilize internal resources to resolve service issues.
+ Communicate and coordinate application activities internally.
+ Escalate service calls to management if necessary.
+ Organize and maintain documentation of application procedures.
Essential Skills
+ Experience with CNC equipment and machines.
+ Proficiency in CNC program code.
+ Blueprint and CAD interpretation skills.
+ Mechanical design knowledge.
+ Ability to work with close tolerances.
+ Understanding of inspection techniques and equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Working knowledge of Fanuc and/or Siemens controls.
+ Experience in conducting machine demonstrations and process development.
+ Capability to conduct training sessions and facilitate learning.
+ Proficiency in technical support and problem resolution.
Work Environment
The role involves working with advanced CNC equipment and requires familiarity with Fanuc and/or Siemens controls. Candidates will engage in both in-house and off-site activities, including training sessions and customer support. The position requires travel, including overnight stays, 60-80% of the time. The work environment emphasizes precision and close tolerance work, with a focus on collaboration and continuous improvement.

This is a Permanent position based out of Elgin, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $100000.00/yr.
