Job Description
This role will lead the geotechnical group, offering an opportunity to manage technical deliverables, mentor junior staff, and support business development. The office is expanding and requires a dedicated geotechnical leader with materials experience.
Responsibilities
+ Lead the geotechnical group, providing technical leadership.
+ Mentor junior staff and support geotechnical projects.
+ Review concrete and steel submittals and special inspection reports.
+ Engage in client-facing activities and business development.
+ Manage projects, write and review reports, conduct job site visits, address field issues, and perform office-based technical tasks.
+ Participate in business development, presentations, and industry events.
Essential Skills
+ California PE License – required to sign off on technical documents and lead the office.
+ Expertise in Geotechnical Engineering: liquefaction analysis, slope stability, pile analysis.
+ Experience in materials review: concrete and steel submittals, special inspection reports, final closeout documentation.
+ Proven management and mentorship skills, including delegating, mentoring, and leading a growing team.
+ Hands-on experience managing medium to large-scale projects, not limited to residential work.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
+ Minimum of 3+ years in geotechnical engineering; preferred 5–10 years post-licensure for principal-level leadership.
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
+ Comfortable in a 'seller-doer' culture and able to operate independently.
+ Proven ability to mentor junior staff and lead a technical group.
+ Strong client-facing skills with a 'seller-doer' mindset.
Work Environment
The work environment is a collaborative, hands-on, 'to-do' culture that promotes versatility and initiative. The position requires working fully in-office from 7 AM to 5 PM with occasional site visits for project meetings or issue resolution. The team is composed of Principal Engineers, Project Geologists, Project Engineers, Staff Geologists, and other technical personnel. The company offers exposure to high-profile projects such as downtown high rises and large-scale infrastructure, with strong mentorship and training support.

This is a Permanent position based out of Irvine, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $155000.00/yr.
