Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM (30-minute unpaid lunch)
About the Role
We’re seeking passionate SpecialEducation Teachers to provide quality services to students fromKindergarten through Grade 12. Under the direction of the Special EducationProgram Administrator, you’ll deliver specialized instruction, collaborate withgeneral education staff, and help students thrive academically and socially.
Major Needs
+ Elementary Mod/Severe or Extensive Support Needs (ESN) – Bridge classrooms for students with significant communication needs and autism:
+ Middle School Mod/Severe or ESN – Max caseload: 12 students
+ High School Mod/Severe or ESN – Max caseload: 12 students
o HighlandsHigh School
Minimum Requirements
+ Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university (preferred)
+ Valid state teaching certificate as required by state/district regulations
+ Minimum of one year teaching experience (preferred)
+ State Teacher Certification:
o StandardElementary Teaching (preferred)
o StandardSecondary Teaching (preferred)
o StandardSpecial Teaching (preferred)
+ Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred
+ Current CPR (if applicable)
+ TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray (if applicable)
+ Current health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
+ Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
+ Must be at least 18 years of age
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
+ Plan and implement curriculum using effective teaching strategies tailored to student needs
+ Develop and draft IEP goals and objectives in collaboration with ARD committees
+ Participate in ARD meetings and provide required documentation
+ Conduct formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress
+ Maintain accurate records including attendance, progress reports, and updated IEPs
+ Serve as case manager for assigned students
+ Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusion when appropriate
+ Implement behavior management strategies and classroom routines
+ Communicate regularly with families regarding academic and behavioral progress
