Description
Join a high-volume team in the Department of Ophthalmology's Retina and Retinal Disorders & Ophthalmic Genetics clinic in Westwood! We're looking for a skilled and dependable Ophthalmic Technician Lead to provide patient care and support daily operations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
+ Coordinating patient care and clinic flow
+ Overseeing daily back-office operations and exam room readiness
+ Providing technical support for Ophthalmologists and Optometrists
+ Maintaining the perimetry and OCT/topography labs
+ Training and supporting ophthalmic staff
+ Assisting with process improvements and quality initiatives
+ Supporting special projects as assigned by the Practice Manager
Salary Range: $40.02-52.79 HourlyQualifications
Required:
+ Current certification as Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT).
+ Minimum 5 years recent experience providing technical support in Ophthalmology practice.
+ Skill in acquiring accurate medical history, measuring, and recording visual acuity, and tonometry.
+ Familiarity with signs and symptoms of various ophthalmic problems to answer patient-related questions and triage calls when urgent evaluation is required.
+ Knowledge of the operations and maintenance of patient-related testing equipment.
+ Excellent interpersonal skills to promote comfortable, cooperative and effective working relationships with patients, physicians and staff.
+ Ability to identify and define complex problems and develop and implement solutions for quality and process improvement.
+ Strong organizational and prioritization skills to effectively coordinate and promote the patient care activities.
+ Skill in setting goals which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities and the strategic priorities of the clinic.
+ Familiarity with computerized EHR(s) and patient appointment scheduling system(s).
+ Ability to organize technician work schedules for continuous coverage.
+ Ability to analyze clinical and administrative information to determine appropriate course(s) of action to resolve conflicts and discrepancies.
+ Ability to learn state of the art diagnostic equipment.
+ Ability to organize and prioritize duties to maximize clinic efficiency.
+ Ability to collaborate with Practice Manager and/or Associate Administrator in problem solving and implementing new and continuing patient care systems.
+ Ability to work independently using effective problem-solving techniques while adhering to Departmental and University practices and policies.
+ Ability to organize technician work schedules for continuous coverage.
Preferred:
+ Experience working in a university-based medical facility/academic teaching environment.
+ Experience on ordering and maintaining logs on high-cost Intravitreal injections, such Eylea, Eylea HD, Vabysmo & Lucentis.
