Additional Information About the Role
+ Shift information - PRN - Evenings and weekends
+ Clients/Job Responsbilities - crisis counseling for those impacted by March and May severe weather, community outreach, phone calls, training is provided
+ Location - community based - canvassing in the communities of Iron County , St. Louis City and St, Louis County
+ Must haves -Flexible schedule outside of standard work times, ability to engage and provide support, ability to travel to Iron County - talking to people, basic computer skills
+ Example of a typical Day- canvassing food ridden communities for several hours and then data entry
Overview
**BJC Behavioral Health** is a community health center that provides and coordinates behavioral health services for more than 8,000 seriously mentally ill adults and seriously emotionally disturbed children in St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. François, Iron and Washington counties. As an Administrative Agent of the Missouri Department of Mental Health (DMH), BJC Behavioral Health serves as a major point of entry for people eligible for mental health services funded by DMH and is responsible for serving as gatekeeper to the public mental health system.

Role Purpose
Engage the community after the declaration of a disaster.
Responsibilities
+ Works with individuals, families and groups to provide outreach, emotional support, individual and group crisis counseling, public education, and referrals when needed.
+ Represents the program in the community and networks with other agencies and partners to ensure the needs of survivors are met.
+ Provides presentations to community groups on disaster reactions, relief mechanisms, coping skills, stress management, and the Crisis Counseling Program (CCP).
+ Performs quick and accurate data entry and records maintenance, both in print and digitally.
Minimum Requirements
Education
+ High School Diploma or GED
