    Responsibilities & Qualifications

     

    Overview

     

    The AAR System Administratoris responsible forthe configuration, maintenance, and operational support of the Milestone XProtect After-Action Review (AAR) system used in training, simulation, and performance evaluation environments. This role ensures that all training events are properly recorded, stored, tagged, and made available for structured review. The administrator works closely with instructors, training coordinators, and technical staff to maintain

    Responsibilities

    + Install, configure, andmaintainMilestone XProtect AAR, Management Server, Recording Servers, and Smart Client components.

    + Configure cameras, microphones, encoders, and other audiovisual equipment used for scenario recording.

    + Manage storage solutions, retention policies, archiving, and data lifecycle for recorded training events.

    + Apply system updates, patches, and firmware upgradesin accordance withsecurity and IT policies.

    + Support the scheduling, recording, tagging, and playback of training scenarios and after-action events.

    + Assistinstructors in creating session folders, bookmarks, event tags, and exporting clips.

    + Provide real-time troubleshooting during live exercises.

    + Ensure recordings are properly cataloged and available fortimelyreview.

    + Create and manage user accounts, groups, and permissions in XProtect.

    + Train instructors, course managers, and students on AAR tools, workflows, and review processes.

    + Enforce access controls and secure distribution of recorded materials.

    + Ensure security hardening of AAR systems to meet agency or organizational cybersecurity requirements.

    + Maintain audit logs, user access records, and system monitoring reports.

    + Support compliance with internal policies, retention mandates, and federal data handling standards.

    + Maintain technical documentation, SOPs, configuration baselines, and change logs.

    + Recommend improvements to enhance training effectiveness, video quality, and system reliability.

    + Collaborate with vendors and integrators for advanced troubleshooting and feature enhancements.

    Required Qualifications

    + 3+ years of experience administering video management systems (VMS) or audiovisual recording systems.

    + Milestone Certified Integration Technician (MCIT), Milestone Certified Design Engineer (MCDE), or Milestone AAR certification.

    + Hands-on experience with Milestone XProtect (AAR, Smart Client, Management Client).

    + Strong understanding of IP video infrastructure (RTSP, ONVIF, camera configuration, networking basics).

    + Experience supporting training or operational environments.

    + Knowledge of Windows Server, network storage, and Active Directory integration.

    + Ability to obtain andmaintaina security clearance (if applicable).

    Desired Qualifications

    + Experience with simulation or training systems (LE, DoD, public safety, or instructional environments).

    + Familiarity with NIST/CMMC cybersecurity frameworks.

    + Experience developing SOPs, training materials, or user guides.

    + Knowledge of video analytics, bookmarking workflows, or scenario-based evaluation tools.
