    Job Description: IAM Cloud Engineer

     

    This person will be responsible for setting up SSO configurations with enterprise apps, MFA settings, and RBAC frameworks. Their focus is the management of digital identities and access controls for employees and users across the organization—a critical role to support the ongoing migration of identity and access processes to the cloud.

     

    The IAM Cloud Engineer plays a crucial role in safeguarding organizational data and resources in the cloud. They focus on managing digital identities and access controls, mitigating risks associated with data breaches, and ensuring compliance with regulations. As the organization increasingly relies on cloud technologies, this resource will support the modernization and migration of identity and access processes across cloud environments. This is a critical role responsible for the health, hygiene, design, and scaling of cloud controls across the environment.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    + Design, implement, and manage IAM solutions, including Single Sign-On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) frameworks.

    + Ensure secure access to internal and external systems by managing authentication and authorization processes.

    + Define and configure Conditional Access policies in Microsoft Entra ID to enforce Zero Trust principles.

    + Assess authentication and authorization baselines and remediate non-standard findings via a risk-based approach.

    + Support Cloud Infrastructure Entitlement Management (CIEM) functions.

    + Collaborate with internal teams to define access requirements, user roles, and permissions for new and existing systems.

    + Monitor and audit user activities and access to ensure compliance with security policies and industry regulations.

    + Implement and manage identity federation and integration between on-premises and cloud environments.

    + Perform user lifecycle management tasks, including provisioning, deprovisioning, and periodic access reviews.

    + Maintain access control policies to ensure only authorized individuals have appropriate access.

    + Troubleshoot and resolve IAM-related issues, providing technical support to internal teams.

    + Stay up to date with IAM best practices, regulatory requirements, and security trends.

    + Automate IAM processes and workflows to improve efficiency and reduce manual tasks.

    + Microsoft Azure, Active Directory, Cloud Architecture

    + Scripting (PowerShell, Python)

    + SSO, MFA, RBAC, Zero Trust, Entra ID

    + Access control and management

    + Security frameworks and protocols (SAML, OAuth, LDAP)

    Education and Experience

    + Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field

    + 8–10 years of IAM and Cloud Engineering experience

    Preferred Certifications

    + Certified Identity and Access Manager (CIAM)

    + Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate

    + CISSP or similar IAM-related certifications

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charlotte, NC.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $60.00/hr.
