Amergis Educational Staffing is hiring Sign Language Interpreters for the current school year!

Job Type: Full-Time

Contract Length: 2025-2026 School Year

About the Role

The Educational Sign Language Interpreter supports staff, students, and families by providing interpretation and translation services for deaf and hearing-impaired students. The interpreter also effectively facilitates communication between students who use sign language due to hearing loss, and students/teachers who do not.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Provide real-time sign language interpretation for deaf and hard-of-hearing students during classroom instruction, school activities, and meetings.

+ Translate spoken language into sign language and vice versa to facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, and peers.

+ Work closely with teachers, special education staff, and administrators to support student learning and inclusion.

+ Help bridge communication between families and school personnel to support student success.

+ Support students in developing self-advocacy and communication skills.

Qualifications:

+ State Board of Education Initial Sign Language Interpreter Certificate

+ Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) certificate

+ Must have EIPA score: 3.5

+ Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) certification ( as applicable per state regulation or client requirement)

+ Annually complete 20 hours of professional development related to interpreting approved by local education agency
