    Job Announcement

     

    Serves as a lead worker within the maintenance facility team and orders merchandise under contract and provides parts to the technicians.

    Further duties include but are not limited to:

    + Researches and determines the correct maintenance and repair parts for complex vehicle repair operations using several different multimedia data sources;

    + Orders and issues parts to technicians in the Department of Vehicle Services (DVS) maintenance facilities and enters outgoing parts on work orders or transfer documents;

    + Receives and shelves automotive parts in stock room;

    + Performs automotive inventory spot checks as necessary to ensure inventory accuracy;

    + Records information into system database;

    + Performs miscellaneous housekeeping (sweeping floors, straightening shelves, dusting, etc.).

    + May be required to pick up or drop off items from suppliers or travel to other DVS/county facilities.

     

    Note: Based on the needs of the agency, the incumbent may be relocated to a different facility and/or work schedule (minimum 30-day advanced notice).

     

    Schedule: The work schedule for this position will be 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

    Illustrative Duties

    Assists with the supervision of warehouse/storeroom operations;

     

    Supervises the receiving, storage and issuance of supplies and equipment;

     

    Investigates and resolves inventory discrepancies and makes proper adjustments in inventory management application;

     

    Serves as department's Property Manager for accountable equipment;

     

    Plans and monitors staging areas;

     

    Audits and analyzes inventory to ensure availability and to minimize cost;

     

    Identifies surplus and obsolete items, arranges for disposal or coordinates surplus sales;

     

    Places orders for stock/supply replenishment;

     

    Researches and develops specifications and standards for the procurement of non-standard equipment, parts, materials and services and ensures that such items meet or exceed established specifications;

     

    Determines most economical supply source and selects the appropriate procurement/purchasing method;

     

    Utilizes purchasing application software, procurement cards, vendor online catalog and state contracts to generate purchase orders;

     

    Contacts vendors to expedite and coordinate deliveries and resolve discrepancies;

     

    Plans delivery schedule and routing;

     

    Processes invoices for payment and enters invoices in Accounts Payable application software;

     

    Researches and/or solicits vendor prices and availability quotes;

     

    Reviews relevant purchasing contracts and participates in the review of bids and recommendations for contract awards and changes;

     

    Evaluates and monitors vendor contract performance and resolves problems with vendor;

     

    Manages contracts and reports discrepancies with Department of Purchasing and Supply Management;

     

    Develops specifications and assist with IFB process;

     

    Maintains detailed purchasing, receiving and issue records using FOCUS;

     

    Develops inventory management, purchasing and warehouse/storeroom procedures;

     

    Trains subordinates of standard purchasing, inventory procedures and warehouse safety procedures;

     

    May provide limited supervision of warehouse staff;

     

    Coordinates maintenance and repair of vehicles, equipment and facility;

     

    May be required to operate a vehicle for making deliveries of supplies or equipment.

    Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships;

     

    Ability to perform tasks that include lifting, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions.

     

    Employment Standards

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to (https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/hr/equivalencies-education-and-experience) high school graduation or a G.E.D. issued by a state department of education, plus four years of inventory, purchasing, accounts payable or material storage operations experience.

    CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:

    + Valid driver's license.

    + Must be able to obtain Forklift Safety Training Certificate within six months of hire date.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    + At least four years of experience working in the automotive parts field ordering and issuing parts.

    + Experience working with an automotive (vehicle) parts management system.

    + Proven ability to maintain a continuous inventory and to keep accurate records.

    + Possess current Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification(s).

    + Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Outlook.

    NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

    The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check and a driving record check to the satisfaction of the employer.

     

    This position is emergency/essential services personnel. (Required to report for duty during inclement weather and/or other emergencies.)

     

    Additional Work Schedule Requirements: Flex schedule may be available. On call rotation schedule, and OT required.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Must be able to stand for long periods of time at parts counter and provide parts for mechanics; stoop, bend, twist, and reach many times daily; climb stairs several times daily; lift up to 50 pounds several times daily. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
