    Job Title: PhlebotomistJob Description

     

    As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for obtaining blood specimens and collecting non-blood specimens such as urine, sputum, and throat swabs for laboratory testing. You will also perform screening tests, report results, and process specimens for laboratory testing. Additionally, you will prepare specimens for dispatch and testing at reference laboratories.

    Responsibilities

    + Obtain blood specimens through venipuncture and other techniques.

    + Collect non-blood specimens such as urine, sputum, and throat swabs.

    + Perform screening tests and accurately report the results.

    + Process and prepare specimens for laboratory testing.

    + Prepare specimens for dispatch to reference laboratories.

    + Respond to codes, perform arterial blood gases (ABGs), and handle rapid testing scenarios.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency in phlebotomy and venipuncture techniques.

    + At least 6 months of phlebotomy experience or clinical training involving phlebotomy on patients.

    + Phlebotomy certification is preferred but not required if experience criteria are met.

    + Experience in a hospital setting, particularly during clinical rotations, is desirable.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Phlebotomy certification is advantageous for newly certified candidates.

    + Ability to handle high-volume specimen collection, especially during day shifts.

    + Experience with adult patients primarily, with minimal pediatric involvement.

    Work Environment

    You will work in a busy hospital lab setting with shifts from 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with every other weekend required. The schedule ensures consistency with a day off during the week when a weekend is worked. The role involves working in the only burn unit in the area, primarily with adult patients, and occasionally responding to codes and rapid testing scenarios.     This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tulsa, OK.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $20.00/hr.
