    Queens Float Phlebotomist -Must Have a Vehicle!

    Job Description

    We are seeking an experienced phlebotomist with a minimum of three years of recent experience in blood collection. The candidate must be proficient with straight needles and comfortable performing venipunctures independently from day one. Reliability, punctuality, and strong communication skills are essential, along with reliable transportation.

    Responsibilities

    + Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, decontaminate, and update patient information.

    + Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.

    + Clearly explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collections, such as urine or fecal, as required.

    + Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.

    + Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.

    + Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.

    + Ensure all test requisitions or computer labels match the script accurately.

    + Package specimens for transport.

    + Store specimen samples at the required temperatures, place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately label, and follow procedures outlined for transport to maintain specimen integrity.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Minimum of 2 years' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting

    + Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

     

    Work Environment

     

    This is a float position covering various Patient Service Centers (PSCs) in Queens and Manhattan.

     

    The phlebotomist will travel between sites as needed, with reimbursement for mileage over 30 miles daily, tolls, and parking.

     

    Travel time between sites will also be compensated.

     

    The schedule typically runs from 8am to 8pm, depending on the site, with most sites opening between 8/8:30am and may require coverage until 6-7pm at times. Rotating Saturdays are required.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Jackson Heights, NY.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $26.00/hr.
