Position Description
The Program Manager 2 – Traffic School is a non-civil service position and is responsible for monitoring and enforcing the General Sessions Court Traffic School and maintaining compliance with the National Safety Council. Manages the General Sessions Court Traffic Education Program under the direction of the Probation and Traffic School Director. The position will perform the administrative and supervisory duties involved in overseeing all activities of the Traffic School and administer for the General Sessions Court criteria for Traffic School attendance. The Program Manager 2 - Traffic School position will also supervise a staff of 4 to 5 persons.
Typical Duties
+ Works closely with the Probation Director and judges with all court and traffic school program initiatives in office space, outside the courtroom, public hallways, and Metro South East.
+ Develops and manages the Traffic School schedule including class attendance.
+ Oversees budgeting and financial management, personnel management and statistical reports.
+ Coordinates and communicates with Justice Integration Services (JIS), concerning the maintenance of the On-Line Traffic School software and any new developments.
+ Trains employees.
+ Assigns Work to staff.
+ Manages and addresses internal and external complaints.
+ Evaluates employee performance.
+ Maintains a working relationship with the Judges, Traffic Violations Bureau, DCSO and other court personnel.
+ Monitors Traffic School staff compliance with departmental policies and procedures and report violations to the Probation Director.
+ Assists the Probation Director in the recruitment and hiring of all staff, interns, and volunteers.
+ Coordinates Traffic School compliance issues with the Traffic Violations Bureau.
+ Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Probation and Traffic School, Court Administrator, or Judges.
+ Acts as liaison with the National Safety Council.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of experience in criminal justice, court services, or a Traffic School environment.
LICENSES REQUIRED
Valid Driver License

Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+ Supervisory and managerial experience is essential and strongly preferred
+ Knowledge of cash management and financial transactions
+ Proficiency with computer systems, including database entry and report generation
