Purpose of the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Manager to lead our maintenance operations and drive overall equipment efficiency across a high-volume plastic injection molding facility. This leader will oversee injection molding machines, auxiliary equipment, facility systems, and automation platforms. The Maintenance Manager is responsible for strengthening our preventative maintenance program, reducing reactive repairs, and implementing long-term solutions to equipment issues.
This role leads a team of maintenance professionals in a 24/7 operation and works cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Safety to ensure reliable output and a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities Equipment & Facility Management
+ Oversee repair, upkeep, and refurbishment of all manufacturing equipment, including:
+ Large-tonnage injection molding machines
+ Molds, extruders, robots, decorating equipment
+ Supporting and auxiliary equipment
+ Manage onsite contractors performing specialized plant or facility work.
+ Lead the execution of the Preventative Maintenance program to national standards.
+ Establish departmental goals aligned with SQCDP and continuous improvement initiatives.
+ May oversee spare parts inventory and manage maintenance department costs.
Leadership & Team Management
+ Lead and develop a team of maintenance professionals in a 24/7 environment.
+ Schedule and manage daily work assignments, ensuring timely and high-quality task completion.
+ Champion safety initiatives and ensure proper training and safe work performance by all team members.
+ Support continuous learning and skill development for maintenance technicians.
+ Manage hands-on technical tasks as well as administrative responsibilities (planning, prioritizing, budgeting, purchasing, etc.).
+ Conduct quarterly performance reviews and comprehensive annual evaluations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
+ Partner with Engineering on capital projects, automation installations, and equipment upgrades.
+ Develop, standardize, and share best practices across local and national teams.
+ Lead or participate in root cause analysis for downtime events and drive permanent corrective actions.
+ Collaborate with all departments with a customer-service mindset to resolve operational challenges.
Qualifications & Experience
+ Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering degree and 10+ years of maintenance management experience.
+ SMRP or Reliability Engineering certification preferred.
+ Injection molding experience strongly preferred; experience with Krauss Maffei machines is a plus.
+ Background in robotics, automation, and Allen Bradley PLC controls is advantageous.
+ Demonstrated success managing technical teams and scheduling work within a CMMS.
+ Strong knowledge of industrial electricity, hydraulics, and plant utility systems.
+ Solid understanding of OSHA/NEC requirements and safe work practices.
+ Experience with Lean methodologies including:
+ 5S, Kaizen, Kanban, visual controls
+ Root cause analysis and structured problem-solving
+ Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
