Job Description
Reporting to the Supervisor, Plumbing Operations within Trades Services at Boston College, the Assistant Supervisor, Plumbing Operations oversees and directs thirteen (13) union (SEIU) plumbers and is responsible for all aspects of plumbing maintenance and operations for 8 million square feet across four campuses and 167 buildings. Responsibilities include but are not limited to potable water, hot water, steam, sanitary sewer, process water and fire protection systems.
The Assistant Supervisor, Plumbing Operations works closely with the Supervisor, Director, Trades Services and a separate organization led by the Director of Engineering & Energy Management on plumbing infrastructure. They also will oversee and manage small plumbing capital projects and must demonstrate a proven ability to administer multiple projects and ability to meet deadlines
The Assistant Supervisor, Plumbing Operations, is jointly overall responsible for the training, development, morale and discipline of the entire Plumbing shop.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets and Drive) is required. This position requires strong interpersonal and analytical skills, including the demonstrable ability to make sound decisions based on available information under emergency as well as normal conditions.
This position requires a MA Journeyman Plumbing license with a minimum of five (5) years experience working on that license and must be able to obtain a MA Master Plumbing License within three (3) years of hire and have the ability to obtain a Wastewater license within 12 months of being hired.
Must maintain a valid driverâs license.
This position is considered essential and must be able to respond to campus emergencies at any time. Normal work schedule is 10:00 AM-6:00 PM, Monday-Friday. Candidates must be able to physically walk campus and up stairs and use ladders as a normal part of their duties.
Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $88,150 to $110,200; salary commensurate with relevant experience.
