    Tradesperson - Preventive Maintenance

    Position Description:

    Safely performs journeyperson level tasks in the fabrication, construction, maintenance, alteration and repair of fixtures, equipment, structures, buildings, and built-in components for Texas Tech facilities. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

    Major/Essential Functions:

    + Perform daily preventive maintenance on HVAC and mechanical systems, including air handlers, exhaust fans, booster pumps, and steam systems.

    + Document all preventive maintenance activities and findings in computerized maintenance management software (CMMS), ensuring accurate records and noting any issues beyond the original work scope.

    + Communicate effectively with Operations personnel and campus customers to provide updates on preventive maintenance scheduling and system performance.

    + Maintain precise inventory records for shop stock, tools, and field equipment to ensure availability and accountability.

    + Participate in monthly facility audits to evaluate system life cycles, identify deficiencies, and support long-term infrastructure planning.

    + Ability to support Operations staff during campus events. (Power outage, inclement weather, etc.)

    Required Qualifications:

    Proficiency in written and mathematical skills as may be reflected in the completion of high school or equivalent.

     

    This position requires eligibility to drive TTU vehicles, including a valid U.S. driver license and two years of driving experience.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    + Strong understanding of building systems both interior and exterior. (HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Steam, Masonry, ETC.)

    + Excellent communication skills both written and oral.

    + Basic mechanical and electrical knowledge with the ability to read a multimeter.

    + Experience with maintenance software is preferred.

    + Strong attention to detail is required.

    + Willingness to learn.

    Hourly Pay Range:

    $17.69 - $22.98 - $28.32
