The role you'll contribute:
The Emergency Department (ED) is a comprehensive unit equipped to provide patient-centered care to a population ranging from newborn to geriatric. This 38-bed ED is segmented into specialized areas to efficiently manage various patient needs, including a section with 30 beds, composed of 25 exam rooms and 5 critical care rooms, and another section with eight beds designated for behavioral health and Fast Track patients. Additionally, a 7 chair Turbo Track area caters to level 4-5 patients. As a Trauma Level IV designated trauma center, Chest Pain Center with primary PCI and resuscitation, and Primary Stroke Center, the ED is prepared to offer high-level emergency care around the clock. The ED Registered Nurse (RN) plays a pivotal role in this setting, providing direct, developmentally and age-specific care as part of a multidisciplinary team. This includes performing a wide array of duties such as prioritizing care through appropriate triage, assessing patient needs, delivering treatment, ensuring proper patient disposition, and continual monitoring and assessment to refine the plan-of-care. The RN collaborates closely with physicians and other team members to promote and restore health, offering emotional, physical, and spiritual support to patients and their families while supervising assigned team members. The employment arrangement can be full-time, part-time, or PRN, with variable shifts to fulfill the department's operational needs, which include weekend work. Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and designated Nurse Leaders, the ED RN's responsibilities are dynamic, potentially varying depending on the assigned area. Their role is crucial in coordinating, supervising, and directing care, particularly focusing on those at a novice and advanced beginner level, ensuring alignment with hospital accountabilities, Standards of Practice, and the overarching goals of Nursing Service and patient care. This position demands a high level of adaptability, comprehensive nursing care knowledge, and the ability to work effectively within the fast-paced, often unpredictable environment of the Emergency Department.

+ Evaluates patients upon arrival to the Emergency Room and prioritize care using the Emergency Severity Index (ESI) tool.
+ Assesses, documents, and intervenes in cases of suspected abuse or neglect.
+ Recognizes potential emergency or life-threatening situations and implement preventive measures.
+ Follows hospital protocol and physician orders regarding the use of restraints when applicable.

Minimum qualifications:
+ Associate's of Nursing Required
+ Registered Nurse (RN) Required
+ Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) Required
+ Advanced Cardiac Life Support Cert (ACLS) Required
+ Pediatric Advanced Life Support Cert (PALS) Required
Preferred qualifications:
+ Bachelor's of Nursing Preferred
+ Trauma Nurse Course Certified (TNCC) Preferred
