Job Summary
The **He** Laboratory at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor is seeking a Research Laboratory Specialist Associate. Research in the **He** Lab focuses on plant immunity, especially mechanisms controlling pathogen perception and signal transduction. Molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, and genetics, and genomics are integrated in this work.
The Department of Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology conducts basic research about the function of all branches of life - bacteria, plants, and animals. Responsibilities*
+ Conduct plant immunity research under the supervision of faculty and in close collaboration with postdoctoral fellows in the laboratory.
+ Use genetic, molecular, and biochemical tools to understand Ca2+ signaling and Ca2+ channels in plant immune signaling and autoimmunity.
+ Perform basic molecular biology experiments, such as molecular cloning, nucleic acid and protein extraction and detection, protein-protein interaction and function, and plant physiological assays, such as cell death, stress responses, and plant transformation.
+ Collaborate on the development, design, and execution of research projects, and perform data analysis according to established plans and discussions with faculty.
+ Work independently on data collection and analysis of research results. Prepare research reports, figures, and draft manuscripts.
+ Perform experiments using established laboratory methods and participate in the development and optimization of new experimental approaches.
+ Assist with the day-to-day operation of the laboratory, including routine duties such as laboratory organization, ordering supplies, preparation of solutions, and maintenance of the plant growth facility.
+ May supervise student workers or undergraduate researchers and provide training in laboratory techniques and experimental procedures.
+ Communicate effectively with laboratory members and contribute to collaborative research efforts.
Required Qualifications*
Bachelors Degree in a related field with 1-3 years of experience
Desired Qualifications*
Master's or PhD in the related field

This position will be a term limited position for one year with the possibility of renewal based on the availability of work, the availability of funding and overall performance.
