The senior commerce editor will oversee and refine Select’s affiliate content across key verticals, helping readers make smarter and more responsible purchasing decisions through authoritative, well-sourced, and data-driven stories. This role will have an elevated focus on franchise and content ownership — including managing high-impact series such as the 100 Best series and Talking Shop — and ensuring consistent editorial excellence and brand voice across these key initiatives.

This person will edit and manage a team of freelancers, collaborate across NBC News and NBC Select editorial teams, and help steer both day-to-day coverage and long-term content planning.

    Responsibilities:

+ Own and manage key commerce franchises, including the 100 Best series and Talking Shop, ensuring each aligns with editorial, performance, and brand goals

+ Assign, edit, and produce high-quality commerce stories that blend data, reporting, and expert sourcing

+ Mentor and manage freelancers and support junior editors or writers with feedback, training, and editorial direction

+ Contribute to and maintain editorial calendars, balancing evergreen updates with timely, news-driven opportunities

+ Develop and refine content strategy around SEO insights, affiliate data, and seasonal shopping trends

+ Collaborate cross-functionally with social, audience, and SEO teams to optimize story performance and discoverability

+ Edit and elevate voice and tone across commerce content, ensuring consistency and clarity while aligning with NBC Select’s standards

+ Analyze and iterate on performance metrics to inform future coverage and franchise developmen

+ Represent the commerce team in cross-departmental meetings and brainstorming sessions

+ Minimum of 5 years of editorial experience, including at least 3 years in commerce or service journalism

+ Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of relevant working experience

+ Proven ability to edit and manage freelancers or junior editors

+ Experience working for a major media or news brand preferred

+ Exceptional editing, writing, and story-shaping skills with a strong command of AP Style

+ Deep understanding of affiliate marketing platforms (Amazon Associates, Skimlinks, Rakuten, Impact, CJ, ShareASale, etc.)

+ Familiarity with SEO best practices and using analytics to inform content decisions

+ Demonstrated ability to translate complex research or expert insights into clear, actionable consumer guidance

+ Strong project management and communication skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities

+ Creative thinker with the ability to identify new editorial opportunities and franchise growth areas
