    General Summary

    The Donor Center-Technologist will be responsible for routine quality management oversight, in addition to performing blood donor eligibility screening and component processing. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a strong commitment to healthcare and donor safety.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    + Quality Review for Safety and Compliance: Performs quality review of donor collection and processing documentation to ensure regulatory compliance with all protocols and guidelines. Resolves any deviation from standards identified during quality review.

    + Equipment Maintenance: Performs testing procedures, quality control and instrument check procedures and maintains related records. Coordinates scheduled maintenance and repairs with vendors.

    + Blood Donor Interaction: Provide exceptional customer service by greeting donors, explaining procedures, and addressing any concerns or questions.

    + Blood Donor Eligibility Screening: Conduct pre-donation screening including medical history, blood pressure, hematocrit level, and other relevant screening questions.

    + Component Preparation: Perform processing of collected blood donations to manufacture blood products for transfusion.

    + Labeling and Distribution: Perform labeling and distribution of blood products.

    + Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other staff members to ensure a smooth and efficient donation process.

    + Investigates new products, equipment, techniques, methodologies. Performs validation and training as is appropriate.

    + Participates in regulatory inspection readiness and assessment.

    + Recruitment: May participate in donor recruitment activities and incentive programs.

    + Identifies safety concerns, instrument issues and other opportunities for process improvement, collaborating with others in problem solving

    Qualifications

    Minimum Education:

    + Bachelor's Degree Required and

    + College Diploma As part of CAP requirements, copy of college diploma and transcript required

    Work Experience:

    + Completion of student clinical rotations. Required and

    + Medical technology or a related science. Required

    Licenses:

    + Certified Medical Laboratory Scientist - ASCP within 1 year Required or

    + Certified Medical Laboratory Technician - ASCP within 1 year Required or

    + Certified Medical Technologist - ASCP within 1 year Required or

    + Certified Specialist in Blood Banking - ASCP within 1 year Required or

    + Certified Specialist in Chemistry - ASCP within 1 year Required or

    + Certified Specialist in Cytometry - ASCP within 1 year Required or

    + Certified Specialist in Hematology - ASCP within 1 year Required or

    + Certified Specialist in Microbiology - ASCP within 1 year Required or

    + Certified Specialist in Molecular Biology - ASCP within 1 year Required or

    + Certified Technologist in Blood Banking - ASCP within 1 year Required or

    + Certified Technologist in Chemistry - ASCP within 1 year Required or

    + Certified Technologist in Cytogenetics - ASCP within 1 year Required or

    + Certified Technologist in Hematology - ASCP within 1 year Required or

    + Certified Technologist in Microbiology - ASCP within 1 year Required or

    + Certified Technologist in Molecular Biology - ASCP within 1 year Required or

    + Certified Medical Laboratory Scientist - AMT within 1 year Required or

    + Certified Medical Laboratory Technician - AMT within 1 year Required or
