    Marshalltown Hospital is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to join our Med/Surg team. Our 16-bed inpatient unit provides care for a diverse patient population, including general medical, telemetry, surgical, and pediatric patients. As part of our team, you will encounter high-acuity patients while being supported by a collaborative and dedicated group of healthcare professionals.

    As a Registered Nurse on our Med/Surg unit, you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care in collaboration with the Medical Plan of Care. You will function as a primary nurse or charge nurse, ensuring the highest quality of patient care in alignment with the philosophy and objectives of UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown Hospital. In this role, you will exercise accountability, responsibility, and authority while demonstrating autonomy in your practice. Additionally, you will serve as a role model and resource person, utilizing your expanded knowledge and expertise to guide and support the team.

    Responsibilities

    + Collaborates with the healthcare team and patient/family to develop an individualized plan of care.

    + Provides age-appropriate care by demonstrating the knowledge and skills required for the patient population served.

    + Delegates tasks based on caregiver role, scope, and competency.

    + Identifies and communicates significant assessment findings to the appropriate provider or leader, ensuring timely follow-through.

    + Obtains, records, and accurately enters data into the EMR and completes documentation promptly for a complete legal record.

    + Communicates respectfully and professionally with the healthcare team, ancillary staff, patients, and visitors.

    + Delivers high-quality care using the nursing process while demonstrating critical thinking and clinical skills in accordance with policies and standards.

    + Integrates unit and hospital performance improvement priorities into daily nursing practice.

    + Conducts thorough, safety-focused hand-offs to communicate patient status, needs, and goals of care.

    + Promotes patient and workplace safety by preventing and promptly reporting errors, accidents, and infections.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    + Minimum of an Associate Degree of Nursing
