    Job overview and responsibilities

     

    The Associate Communications Specialist will be an entry level position within the Corporate Communications team for early career graduates to gain a breadth of experience in multiple areas within the Communications department. The Associate Specialist will support the team's mission to create relatable, clear communications that bring to life our company strategy and cultural priorities for employees across the company. The role will be a part of the team that delivers company news daily to our 100,000+ employees across the globe, with a goal to inform, educate and inspire – ultimately influencing how employees feel about working at United. Gaining knowledge of the department and working with other areas of the business are critical to the success of this position. **This position is Chicago-based hybrid, requiring two days in office per week.**

     

    + Maintain team inboxes and help gather information to answer inquiries, document, and follow up as needed

    + Conduct interviews, research, seek out, pitch, and write stories

    + Assist in distributing daily news content, including publishing on United’s intranet site and deploying daily news email

    + Provide engagement communications support to key projects impacting the business

    + Work closely with fellow writers, designers, and photographers to ensure publishing deadlines are met

    + Contribute creative ideas and approaches to employee communications

    Qualifications

    What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

    + Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or related field

    + Strong writer/storyteller skills

    + Passion for news and media relations strategy

    + Comfort with digital tools

    + Ability to juggle multiple projects at once and effectively prioritize

    + Eagerness to learn/takes initiative

    + Ability to work under tight deadlines

    + Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

    + Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

    + Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

     

    The base pay range for this role is $52,725.00 to $68,632.00.

     

    The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
