    About the Role:

As a CBRE Engineering Operations Director, you will serve as a critical technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for site operations and a potential account lead, demonstrating a high degree of commitment to excellence. You will manage the team responsible for optimizing the performance of complex Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems and ensuring continuous operational continuity, thereby providing comprehensive quality control across all properties. This role is integral to the Engineering and Technical Services function, focusing on providing expert support, proactive preventive maintenance, and skilled repairs on a diverse range of equipment and systems within a dynamic production environment.

    What You’ll Do:

    • Serve as a technical SME for site operations, providing in-depth knowledge and guidance, with the potential to expand into an account leadership role.

    • Oversee a business unit's financial performance, ensuring fiscal responsibility and identifying opportunities for efficiency.

    • Actively seek out new business opportunities, including identifying prospects, engaging in client solicitations, developing compelling proposals, and delivering impactful presentations. (While not applicable to all GWS specific roles, a proactive approach to identifying improvements is expected).

    • Approve the hiring of contractors and subcontractors based on facility needs, implementing rigorous bidding procedures for all contract maintenance activities.

    • Direct the daily operation of facility controls and advanced asset management systems, ensuring optimal performance and compliance.

    • Approve annual operating budgets, meticulously managing resources to achieve operational goals.

    • Provide formal supervision, mentorship, and coaching to employees, fostering their training and development. This includes conducting performance evaluations and overseeing the recruiting and hiring of new team members.

    • Coordinate and manage the team's daily activities, establishing efficient work schedules, assigning tasks, and implementing cross-training programs to enhance skill sets. Set and track staff and department deadlines with a focus on accountability.

    • Apply a robust knowledge of multiple engineering disciplines, the business landscape, and key drivers impacting departmental and cross-functional performance, particularly within critical environments.

    • Lead by example, modeling behaviors consistent with CBRE RISE values. Persuade managers and other colleagues to take action while being guided by organizational and functional business plans. Negotiate effectively with external partners, vendors, and customers of divergent interests to achieve common goals.

    • Identify and solve multi-dimensional, complex operational and organizational problems, leveraging appropriate internal and external resources. This includes troubleshooting in demanding production environments and critical spaces.

    • Significantly improve and change existing methods, processes, and standards within the job discipline, driving innovation and efficiency.

    • Collaborate closely with client management to understand their needs and deliver exceptional service.

    • Manage relationships with third-party providers, ensuring high-quality service delivery and effective communication.

    • Demonstrate strong communication skills, both written and verbal, effectively conveying complex technical information to diverse audiences.

    • Exhibit a high degree of commitment to project success, including the flexibility to work long hours as needed to meet critical deadlines and respond to urgent situations.

    • Foster a collaborative environment, working effectively with internal teams, clients, and external partners.

    What You’ll Need:

    • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline preferred with 8-12 years of relevant experience in a production environment. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered.

    • Extensive experience with Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems, including a deep technical understanding of air handlers and other critical infrastructure.

    • Proven experience in critical environments or specialty spaces such as clean rooms, data centers, or laboratories.

    • Experience in the areas of staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, measuring, appraising, and rewarding performance and retention is preferred.

    • Ability to lead the exchange of sensitive, complicated, and difficult information, convey performance expectations, and effectively handle problems.

    • Leadership skills to set, manage, and achieve targets with a direct impact on multiple department results within a function.

    • In-depth knowledge of Google Office products (e.g., Google Docs, Google Drive) or similar productivity suites.

    • Expert organizational skills and an advanced inquisitive mindset.

    • Experience preferred in developing and managing organizational budgets.

    • GXP (Good Manufacturing Practice/Good Documentation Practice) experience is a plus.

    • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
