WSP is currently initiating a search for an **Accounting Specialist I**
This position is based out of **Costa Mesa, CA.**
JOB SUMMARY
Primary responsibilities include, but not limited to, reconciling various general ledger accounts and reports, processing and recording of accounts payable transactions related to operations payables, other interoperability agencies and customer refunds, processing and recording of accounts receivable transactions related to daily cash receipts and other receivables from other interoperability agencies, processing and recording bank returned items, preparing journal entries related to other agencies cash receipts and accounts payable, performing monthly audits related to transponder and cash on hand, communicating effectively results of audits performed and providing back up to Finance and Accounting team members as needed.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** include some or all of the following. Supervisor may assign other duties as needed.
+ Match and post accounts payable invoices
+ Match and post other agency interoperability invoices
+ Maintain paid accounts payable files
+ Maintain daily shift close documentation
+ Maintain daily deposits documentation
+ Maintain daily customer check refunds logs
+ Prepare, post and reconcile customer refunds
+ Reconcile and prepare daily deposits
+ Process and post bank returned items
+ Process and post bank chargeback disputes
+ Reconcile daily shift close reports
+ Reconcile daily reporting
+ Reconcile daily customer refund checks
+ Prepare month end journal entries when needed
+ Reconcile various general ledger accounts
+ Perform monthly audits (transponder and cash on hand)
+ Prepare month end journal entries as needed
+ Cross train and back up other Finance and Accounting staff members as needed
+ Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS

+ Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
+ Ten key skills
+ Strong technical research skills
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills
+ Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
+ Ability to work independently and under strict deadlines
+ Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion properly
+ Should possess an above average skill ability and knowledge of PC computers. The ability to develop, create, and utilize spreadsheet software (Microsoft Excel) and word processing software (Microsoft Word) on a daily basis. The individual should possess the skills and ability to learn and utilize new software products as introduced by the organization.
+ Ability to read and comprehend simple to complex instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple to complex procedures, staff memos, and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
+ Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
+ Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
+ Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
+ Primarily sedentary physical work requiring ability to lift a maximum of 10 pounds
+ Must be able to lift, carry, walk and stand
+ Vision for reading, recording and interpreting information
+ Frequent speech communication, hearing and listening to maintain communication
+ Daily use of computer and keyboard, standard office equipment and telephone
+ Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from the computer
+ Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate computer keyboard and office equipment
+ Noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
+ This position has no supervisory responsibility.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
+ High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
+ One (1) year experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable and journal entry preparation a plus

Compensation:
Expected Salary $27 - $29/HR
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
