    Summary:

    The Idaho Department of Correction is currently recruiting for a Psychiatric Treatment Coordinator to work at the Idaho State Correctional Institution in Boise Idaho. This position over sees four psychiatric technicians and the Resident support programs. The Psychiatric Treatment Coordinator as a liaison between inmates, security, and clinical. Plays an active role in the behavioral health unit to include facilitate groups and working closely with the clinical supervisors.

    Responsibilities:

    + Develop, implement, and coordinate treatment programs for individual Residents to include interpersonal groups, recreational activities, arts and crafts, physical activities, or daily living skills.

    + Work with Residents and staff to assist with discharge plans to include community mental health supports upon release

    + Tracking relevant inmate data for treatment targets

    + Coordinating multi-disciplinary team meetings in the Behavioral Health Unit as well as the medical unit as needed

    + Supervision of psychiatric treatment technicians

    + Provide personal hygiene care plans for Residents

    + Participate and lead other staff in managing Resident crisis intervention

    + Observe, record, and report Resident behavior and effectiveness of interventions

    + Oversee the companion, ISP, and hospice programs

    + Work with Residents who may exhibit assaultive or aggressive behavior

    + Carry a caseload of inmates in the behavioral health unit for which you assist in helping them progress towards treatment goals developed by clinical staff

    Minimum Qualifications:

    + Good knowledge of therapeutic techniques used to treat mentally ill patients. Typically gained by successful completion of 1-3 college level courses (at the 300 or 400 level) in the areas of psychology, social work, counseling, human behavior plus one year of experience as described below OR successful completion of 1-3 college level courses (at the 300 or 400 level) in the areas of psychology, social work, counseling, human behavior plus one year of experience as described below.

    + Good knowledge of common mental illnesses and symptoms. Typically gained by successful completion of 1-3 college level courses (at the 300 or 400 level) in the areas of psychology, social work, counseling, human behavior OR two years' experience working in the mental health field in a position which required a good knowledge level of common mental illnesses, symptoms and appropriate terminology as a predominate responsibility of the job. Your answer should indicate that you have a good working knowledge with common mental illness.

    + Good knowledge of civil and legal rights of institutionalized persons. Typically gained through at least 3 months' experience working at the professional or paraprofessional level with institutional patients; practicum, field work, internship experience may qualify: OR completion of a college course or one 4-6 hour seminar, workshop, or program dealing with the civil and legal rights of institutionalized patients.

    + Experience implementing treatment plans, leading therapeutic activity groups. Typically gained by at least two years' experience working in a position in the mental health field which required implementing treatment plans (e.g., identifying and describing behavior, therapeutic record keeping and making written documentation).
