We are seeking a dedicated Architect who will be responsible for reviewing construction documents and costs, monitoring ongoing construction projects, reviewing contractor payment applications, and assisting senior staff with property condition surveys. This position involves working on various project types, including multi-family, office, industrial, hotel, and retail, with typical construction values ranging from $10 to $100 million. Monthly travel to job sites is required.

Essential Skills
+ Experience in construction administration.
+ Proficiency in leading construction administration on core and shell projects.
+ Project management skills.
+ Experience with construction documents.
+ Degree in Architecture.
+ Licensed Architect or on the path to obtaining a license.
+ 8-10 years of experience in architecture.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Background in multi-family and affordable housing preferred.
+ Open to commercial project experience.
+ Ability to travel monthly.
+ Candidates must provide writing samples, ideally an email to a client diagnosing a problem and providing a solution.
Work Environment
This position is with a national Architectural and Engineering consulting firm established in 1991. The firm is well-regarded in the fields of physical due diligence and construction consulting for commercial real estate development projects. The role involves approximately 50% travel, mainly to Midwestern cities and occasionally from Denver to the East Coast, typically during the last and first weeks of the month. Travel is mostly same-day, with occasional overnights. The company employs 24 people nationally, with about 13 based in Chicago, and has other locations in LA, Portland, Honolulu (remote employees); NC and Nashville (remote employees); and New York (Soho, physical office). When not traveling, the position is on-site. The workload primarily includes multi-family and affordable housing projects with construction costs ranging from $10M to $100M.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.87 - $45.67/hr.
